Oct 19, 2014 12:46 AM in response to Egasser101by epoxxy,I have same problem with late 2009 imac 27" i5.
Surfing, skype and a youtube-video. And it shutsdown due to overheating.
And I don't hear the fans as much as earlier. (It's till moving though)
I'd like my fans to start a lot earlier.

Oct 19, 2014 4:30 PM in response to Egasser101by Egasser101,Just back from the Apple store (Fashion Valley San Diego). The verdict is "we have no idea whats wrong". Bummer really. They checked my computer in and plan to call me back with the finial verdict soon.
At first they thought they could erase my hard drive and reinstall Mavrick... After the drive was erased the OS would not install. Same problem I was having last night yet the Apple guys had a back way in.
I will report back outcome.

Oct 19, 2014 10:38 PM in response to Egasser101by dave61,I am running MBA with same config. Following suggestion from tomme86 I had a look at Activity Monitor where I found Google Drive consuming 95% of the CPU. I switched it off and peace has returned.

Oct 21, 2014 9:54 PM in response to Egasser101by Egasser101,Yesterday Apple called me back (time to pick up your computer) with the good news! My computer is perfectly fine yet they recommend NOT installing Yosemite for a few months to determine if I have a hardware problem (All tests ran said my hardware was fine) OR if its a Yosemite challenge. Currently Im running Maverick (2 days) with not heat up issues or fan running like crazy.

Oct 22, 2014 3:44 PM in response to Egasser101by Regrind,Late 2013 rMBP. Light overheating. Temp Gauge is averaging 145ºF with menial tasks. Doing the iWork updates now and going to throw a good Ableton set on and see what temps I get then. Hoping for the best. Unrelated, but I'm really let down with the GUI.
