Spotlight in Yosemite will not search web

Same problem here (iMac 2013, in the Netherlands). Bing web search is on top of the list in preferences, but no web searches. Even stranger, when I type "Elephant" the first result is "Energy Saver".

same here. im using the latest macbook air 13" using os x yosemite.

i tried deselecting the bing web search and select it again, tested, nada.😟

dragged it to top 10 (since it is located at the bottom), to no avail.

i hope Apple has tested this thoroughly before they released it.

anyway, hope help will come soon.

Yup..same issue here..
Moreover, its in the center of the screen, which makes applications running behind difficult to view.
Hopefully Apple gives the possibility to move the spotlight search.

Same here. Actually nothing that is on the web is being shown. No results, no wikipedia, etc.

Same issue with me... No bing. Heard on another forum it may have something to do with location.

I am based in Cyprus (Europe).

I had this problem too, but once I made my language and region the same (changed to US and English US) then Spotlight Search started working fine.

Maybe we'll have to keep it this way till Apple makes the feature available for all languages and/or regions.

hi I want to confirm that as long as your region and language is the same the bing search works.For example I'm in Italy if I put the italian language and italian location everything works.But If i put english language on my macbook and italy as region the search doesn't work.What problems could I have if i leave my region US?

I checked this and I can confirm it. If I set my language to english and my region to the US it works. Also if I set my language to dutch and my region to The Netherlands it works.

But any combination of an other language thanks spoken in the region will not produce an online result with Bing.

I am not sure. It might be a Bing thing.

I am hoping we get an update that will fix this. I have been working with an english language OS since 1992.

I am used to seeing things in english on my screen.
