I'm participating of Yosemite Beta since July, and I have experienced some issues with my mac since then. But, after updating my computer yesterday, the FaceTime camera isn't working anymore. When I use softwares like FaceTime, PhotoBooth or Skype the light goes on, but the is just black.

I still have the problem here... I am thinking about downgrade to Mavericks...
I didn't do a thing, but the camera and FaceTime are working again...
My FaceTime camera still indicates a camera is not connected; however other services (Skype) are connected to the camera.
This worked for me. I have only tried it one time, so I cannot verify if it is a permanent fix or not.

Same here with Late 2013 rMBP. I think this is a crime to those people who have video conference all the day. Please release a Hotfix for this, apple. We need camera.

You will not likely see a response from Apple, but "Feedback" offers the best assurance that responsible Apple people will see your input.

I was having a similar problem and found the following steps on another discussion. After executing the steps FaceTime and PhotoBooth recognize the built-in camera.
This is what customer support instructed me to do for my iMac:
Rest 1.
Shut down computer and unplug power; wait 15 secs.
Turn on computer.
Shut down computer.
Reset 2.
Turn on computer.
Before gray screen comes up, so almost immediately, press Option-Command-P-R at the same time.
Hold down until you hear the turn-on noise, let go and let the system start up.
This worked for me! It's a quick fix and worked instantly. Thank you!

No, I did NOT wait for the chime...press the Option-Command-P-R (at the same time) almost immediately then release after you hear the start-up noise (chime).
I just tried this - it worked for about 30 seconds - as before - then stopped working again... Thanks though 😟
