"Invalid iPod Service Version" HELP!

First my iPod nano had this folder with an exclamation mark logo, then i plugged it to my computer and now all I get is this old black and white looking version of the Do Not Disconnect screen. When I went to the updater it said "Invalid iPod Service Version"
