Q: sleep wake problem with Yosemite on my Mac Mini Mid 2012

I have a problem with Sleep Wake on a Mac Mid 2012 Mac Mini running 10.10, I was also a beta test user, and had seen the same problem before the official release. After the Mac Mini goes to sleep, and you try to wake it, it sits frozen, you can not enter your password, after about 5 minutes, the Mac reboots, and you can enter your password, the keyboard works again. I am using the Apple bluetooth MC184LL/A wireless keyboard. This same problem is occurring with the Logitech K760 bluetooth solar keyboard. I am now going to try only a standard USB keyboard, to see if the problem is somehow related to bluetooth? I been sending the reports to Apple about this problem since I started the beta testing from the start of the Yosemite beta test. It seems this is low on the list or is somehow related to my machine only? I have never had any problems with my Mac Mini, and have never done anything to the device (I never opened the Mac).

Any one else with the same problem? Thanks!

Tried and it does not solve this issue. Could be for Maverick but not for Yosemite.

    My solution for now ----->Screenshot 2014-10-20 09.22.04.png

I have sleep disabled and every day my mac mini (2011) locks up to where I can move the mouse but I can't get the desktop to respond. it just remains black.  I can't login remotely via ssh or vnc either.  I have to power it off and on again to bring it back.  I never had this problem in mavericks.

Having same issue after installing Yosemite, but on iMac 27" late 2009. None of the previous fixes here have helped except to not put it to sleep.

Same problem here, plus Time Machine isn't working as it used to,  going back to Mavericks, Seems that Yosemite is still in Beta

Hy guys. Same exact problem here. Not always though. Just once every three or four times. I have a mac mini mid 2010 intel dual core duo 2,66 ghz. Since Vicnowo already tested before release, they could have fixed it already, didn't they?

Same exact problem is happening to me, writing it here to show that in fact this is a common update problem.

My Mac Mini 2012 does not completely wake after sleep, mouse function and screen shows, but it gets stuck here. I cannot type passwords so I decided to disable password after sleep, then it just hangs, I cannot open any apps, just the screen and mouse return. This all started after the upgrade to Yosemite just like most people here. Along with other issues I was having, this seems to be the only one to have no solution as of yet.

Hope that Apple has an update to this issue soon, we need sleep functions back.

I am having the same issue with our mid-2012 Mac Mini. Since updating to Yosemite, the mini screen is frozen when awaking from sleep mode.

I have exactly the same problem. Cannot type password after Waking up from Sleep. Only way out is forced reboot. After that the unit starts in Safe mode ( bar scrolling at the bottom of Apple logo).

Will phone Apple tonight and if they solve it I'll list the fix here.

Will follow this thread in the hope someone gets there faster...

What a c..k up by Apple !..Samsung must be really happy reading this..

Update 21st October : : temporary fix seen in other forums : try to awake computer from Sleep using a brief touch on the power button, ie NOT by moving the mouse or touching the keyboard. Worked for me after full night on Sleep..

Two things here : looks like the problem is not computer Sleep but Screen Sleep, so not much gain from setting computer to Never Sleep as the screen will lock anyway after the set time ..

Exact same problem here...Mac Mini 2012 with fusion drive does not wake after sleep.

Plus one bug: the audio settings seem to reset itself, so it forgets which output option was previously chosen and it sets itself back to the default option

Same here with audio input yet after several restarts it appears to work...clearly something wrong ...how could they not test small things like this before a release ??

Same problem for me. Mac Mini late 2012

Send many bug reports to Apple ...

I thought it was from the Yosemite beta ... so I done a clean install ... and get the problem again.

Hope to have a fix soon. I'm surprise that Apple didn't resolve this with the final version of Yosemite!

A small message from Apple to help us?? ;-)

Same problem as all, just bought my first ever Mac mini 4 weeks ago, a friend finally convinced me that Mac was the way forward, not sure now.

After awakening from sleep screen is on and curser is moving but that is it, got to do a forced restart.

    Not a happy bunny.
