Q: Show Fonts window no longer displays font styles options (Line Spacing, Kerning, Baseline, Outline etc)

Under Yosemite, the Fonts window [Menu Edit > Show Fonts; or COMMAND+T ] no longer displays font styles (Style, Alignement, Line Spacing, Kerning, Baseline, Outline etc) which were located at the bottom section of that window when editing text boxes.

I noticed this issue since Yosemite DP 1 with Aperture 3.5.1. I was hoping it would be fixed eventually with the official GM or with the Aperture 3.6 update.

I did three different installations: two upgrades and one fresh install with different computers (MacBook Air 11' 2014, MacBook 13" 2008, iMac 24" Early 2008), yet it stills disappears completely under Yosemite. So far, I haven't found any solution to either bring back those options or find another way to access them, aside from Text Alignment which can be accessed with the context menu when editing the layout.

Line spacing and font kerning adjustments are two major functions which I require for making portfolios; if anyone would know where I can access those functions in a practical & usable way, or how to bring back that missing section of the Fonts dialog window under Yosemite, it would really be appreciated.

Thanks!

Aperture 3, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

My tech support helper under ticket 685217325 just hung up on me after refusing to diagnose this issue. I cannot believe how rude he was and I have never had someone hang up on me before from Apple.

Which context menu are you talking about for the text alignment? This is the function I need. I hope Apple gets this bug fixed along with others in the next update soon so we can all work--got big projects due soon!

Other applications, like Text Edit now have separate menu entries for Spacing, Kerning, etc in the "format > Font" menu. So I do not expect these items to come back to the "Show Fonts" panel. What we could hope for would be additional menu items in Aperture, similar to the new Text Edit menu items.  Have you sent a bug report to Apple?  Apple - Aperture - Feedback

As a work-around - I noticed, that kerning and baseline are kept, when I format a text in Text Edit and paste it into a text field in an Aperture book. Perhaps you can use this to format your texts, while we are waiting for a bug fix.

Right clicking in Aperture when not directly selecting text, just the box as a whole (when you get the corner resize draggers) allows you to get the context menu for alignment and columns...

But that is limited. Hopefully someone will take notice soon.

    Hi Léonie,

As per your suggestion, I just filed a bug report using the link you provided; thank you for providing it. I will attempt to use Text Edit as an external editor in the meanwhile as a temporary workaround.

Thanks again for your assistance Léonie, it's really appreciated!

Rebooting then Command+R to repair permissions fixed it temporarily

Also fixed the inability to Copy & Paste.
