Home Sharing not working with Yosemite update

Hi,

since upgrading , I have lost access to my home sharing library through apple TV, it worked fine with Mavericks, but it says that I need to turn on Home Sharing on on my mac (which it is). I have turned home sharing off and on on both mac and apple tv (7.0) but still no joy.

Anyone else with the same problem ? is there a fix?

Thanks

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Hi,

i have the same annoying issue. No one of my devices (two iPhones 5s, iPad Air and ATV3) can't see Home Sharing since updated to Yosemite and iTunes 12. Also Wifi sync died. Winston, thanks but Ive tryied all what advised and no joy. We're not to do all frustrating trouble shootings, updated/upgraded system has to work seamlessly if you have proper devices. That's not some awkward Windows.

Looking through large amount of complaints on forums it seems for some another serious bugs like iOS 8.0.1.

Restoring Apple TV did no good whatsoever. My iPad plays on Apple tv perfectly well so it (like I thought) has to be my iMac and obviously something to do with this yosemite DOWNgrade!! ****** frustrating. I go to airplay display in settings on my iMac and it says no devices detected, I know I have one as I used it the other day before I downgraded to yosemite and I just used it with my iMac, SO DON'T TELL ME I AINT GOT AN APPLE TV!!! Anyway if I haven't got one, give me my £99 back you robbing B*%^*RD%

If someone has had this same problem and managed to put it right, please write your reply in plain english so it can be understood by someone who is really thick ..... cos I am!!

Okay, below is a link from a different thread that, eventually, worked for me:

Re: Apple TV won't access Home Sharing since updating to Yosemite and iTunes 12.0.1???

I tried rebooting and/or restarting (in no particular order) iTunes 12, my brand new iMac, and Apple TV 3. I then changed the name of my library as suggested in one of the replies. Some combination of this worked for me and I have no idea what or why.

So here's a pertinent question: given that Apple is spending money on employing so-called "geniuses" , why are none of them monitoring or moderating any of these forums? While I appreciate the efforts and recommendations of fellow users, I spent a pretty penny on my new iMac 5K and I have a reasonable expectation of better support from Apple other than, "find it for yourself."
