I seem to have no sound on my alerts (texts etc) since I installed the last update on my 4S

Anyone know how to restore sound on my iPhone 4S - since I installed the latest update I am not receiving text alerts at all!

iPhone 4S, iOS 8.0.2

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

Take a look at the article linked below, it provides information and tips that may be able to explain why you aren’t receiving text alerts on your iPhone since updating iOS.

iOS: Understanding sounds, ringtones, and alerts

Also, If you haven't already, try updating to iOS 8.1.

Hi Jason

Thanks so much - I had already tried resetting everything in settings under "sounds" but nothing was happening. Also my Maps app was not working - no voice/instructions.

I updated (reluctantly!!) to iOS 8.1 and things are back on track. I'm getting my text alerts and Maps is working ok.

Thanks so much - I was about to throw my phone away and buy an Android!
