Jan 23, 2015 8:36 AM in response to RossMilnerby Andrew Byrom,Just got my first mac and running Yosemite 10.10.1
Just plugged in my iPod Classic for the first time after setting up iTunes and transferring all my files from my old Windows laptop, gutted that it's not recognised. Being a complete Mac novice I'm pretty confused on how to proceed, can someone please explain what i need to do to get iTunes to recognise my iPod?

Mar 11, 2015 5:38 PM in response to RossMilnerby margaret108,I had this problem…intermittently. BUT my iPhone had trouble charging because of the cord. Bought a new cord. Used the new cord to connect the iPod Classic to the Mac and iTunes. Problem solved, at least for the moment. So try a new cord!

Jun 1, 2015 4:50 PM in response to bp33by Brian Jeffries,For most of us, this was resolved once 10.2 was released. This was a Yosemite problem with the 10.2 beta. I had to roll my system back to 10.1 and every GM release since has been fine.

Jun 27, 2015 7:13 AM in response to Brian Jeffriesby Rsnic,Hi,
First off, I have 5th Gen IPod (aka iPod Video); this device has served me faithfully for several years. Recently, however, I have had a problem.
Thinking it was a battery, I purchased a new one. Well, the battery arrived and, following a YouTube video, I installed it in about 10 minutes. I tried to use iPod, but still got the same problems so I let iPod charge overnight.
I continue to get the following three screens appearing, somewhat randomly:
- White screen with warning triangle and a sad-faced iPod and IPod support URL
- Dark screen with universal no-go circle over a battery icon, saying Please wait battery very low
- Dark screen with Apple icon
I followed instructions (posted in several places) to get iPod in Disk Mode. Most of the time, I get no where, but on a few occasions:
- The screen comes to life and says plug iPod into computer in several languages;
- Plug iPod into my PC, my PC recognizes the iPod (the hardware icon in the lower left system tray lists the iPod)
- Taking several attempts, activate iTunes
- iPod screen starts flashing white and says do not disconnect
- After about 30 seconds, however, the iPod is disconnected from PC and iPod never recognizes the iPod.
I have tried stopping & restarting Apple Mobile Services
I have gotten the above sequence to occur several times, BUT always with same fruitless outcome.
What am I doing wrong? Is there anything else I can try or is it time to bid my adieus to my faithful iPod?
Appreciate any further help
Thank you very much

Aug 6, 2015 5:25 PM in response to Rsnicby Naceber,Rsnic,
We are having the exact same issues. Did you find a fix?
I was stuck trying to get it to restore before it would no longer be recognized by iTunes.
My screen is in black and white only. I'm not sure if you'd run into that as well.
Thanks for any input you may have.

Sep 6, 2015 2:40 AM in response to RossMilnerby Iby Bargit,I recently had the same problem, everyone seems to think it's an issue with iTunes v12.2.2 (for mac - Yosemite 10.10.5).
I would plug the device into iTunes nothing, but it would detect in IOS and i can see it was working in finder cos there were folders on the disk.
I tried everything to get my iPod working, i have the iPod 80GB Classic purchased in 2007.
I ejected the device safely and "unsafely" that many times that my ipod was no longer detecting any of the 3000 songs i had on there. ouch...
I read all post comments and feedback to see if i could get it working.
The solution is simple: Wipe your iPod and start again.
I went into Disk Utility (mac) flattened the HDD using mac utilities and treated the iPod as if it was a brand new device.
I plugged it back in and prayed it would detect and it found it. It is now installing the first 1000 songs =) good luck and keep persevering.
