grab/hold the macbook air

Hi,

I just bought a new Macbook Air. Before this model I had a macbook pro, so I know a little about MacBooks. But there is one thing I still wonder about.

Is it possible to hold or grab your laptop on the side where your fingertips push a little on the bottom of the laptop. Could this result in damage to the hardware, lying directly underneath the aluminium bottomcase? I'm very careful with my laptop, but I'd like to know from anyone if this is a bad thing.

Thank you

I wouldn't be putting mine upside down on a table and pushing on it 😉 although I think it would take a lot of force to do any damage and that it would likely be cosmetic damage to the case.

You aren't going to hurt it by carrying it with some of your fingers wrapped around and touching the bottom of the case, no matter how you hold it. I normally carry mine with my hand wrapped around the long side (huge area) but only because I feel I'm less likely to drop it holding the long side than the short side.

Thank you Foxfith for your reply, but maybe I was not really specific with my question.

Let's take an extreme example: I lay my macbook air upside down on the table, and push with my thumb on the case. I know it will bend a little, and it will damage a hardware component I guess.

Now my example: holding the laptop on the short side, where my fingers will bend the bottom case to the inside towards the hardware components. My question is a bit about the distance between the bottom case and the (fragile?) components and the bottom case.

Sorry to bother you with this question again. But your answer was not clear for me yet 😉

Thank you
