Oct 30, 2014 4:56 AM in response to Adrianh43by GoGas38,Relieved to find others having this issue.
On my user account which may be working (as opposed to my wife's that I think is not) I have noticed the morning that if a Notification appears as an alert from e.g. Roboform (to indicate sync completed correctly) that while Alert is still open if I look at NC then the Roboform notification is there. Hover as soon as I close the the displayed popup alert it disappear from NC. In a similar vein Airmail (the mail app I use) displays a Notification as a Banner and then goes away as it should; at this point the mail preview is shown in NC. When I open Airmail and read the email it disappears from the NC. This all makes sense in that NC is only displaying items needing some action. However I am not sure it is the whole story and on my wife's user account mail is configured to give notifications and yet these do not show even if the mail is unread.

Hi GoGas38,
yes, that makes sense on the one hand, but on the other, Notification Center is supposed to remember how to react on a certain event by application, which is why it keeps the applications listed in the Preferences window. If you remove the application then their notification settings should be removed from the Notification Settings in Preferences too. But as long as you keep the application, it should be there and Notification Center should remember its settings.
Btw., after following the aforementioned recipe with removing the folder in Library/Application Support and rebooting at least twice, it works now as it should on my iMac.
Cheers,
Paul

Nov 2, 2014 1:03 PM in response to pokey bby pokey b,Strangely, notification center has been working for me the last few days (since I posted here on the 27th). Lately I have been closing NC with "notifications' selected (instead of "Today"). I am wondering if that has helped (or is it just wishful thinking and blind luck?).

Nov 4, 2014 11:22 PM in response to v1ct0rby Aymen Saket,This should sort things out for you:
Re: Notifications preferences don't hold
Reboot, modify your settings, then reboot to verify it works, It worked for me, and I deleted the folder that I dragged to the desktop.

Aymen

Nov 6, 2014 6:35 AM in response to v1ct0rby ianjames,Yep, suffering from the same thing on a 2010 iMac as well. I'm getting really annoyed by this, and it's a pretty big bug in my opinion.

Nov 6, 2014 8:43 AM in response to ianjamesby Paul Förster,Hi,
just curious: Have all you people posting "me too" here actually tried the recipe as posted by jgfidel in Re: Re: Notification Centre does not Remember Settings? See also http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=20189591 for the exact recipe. Especially note the last sentence: "The notification preference changes won't stick until you restart a 2nd time after this."
Cheers,
Paul

Nov 6, 2014 9:01 AM in response to Paul Försterby Adrianh43,Yes. I saw this. I went through it carefully and methodically. I re-started thrice not just twice. Still the same situation. Come on Apple, sort it out, please.

Nov 6, 2014 9:06 AM in response to Adrianh43by sethteegarden,So I downloaded and installed the new beta software from Apple. Yosemite 10.10.1 and it fixed the problem. If you are part of the beta test program you can install it now. If not I'm sure this update will be out soon for the public.

Nov 6, 2014 9:25 AM in response to Adrianh43by Paul Förster,Hi Adrianh43,
that's interesting because it worked flawlessly on two of our five Macs. The other three didn't have that problem but have loads of other problems. I'm desperately waiting for 10.10.1...
Cheers,
Paul
