I have the same problem, but downloading the driver for Maverick's didn't help. I am connected wirelessly to the network, have reset the printer to factory defaults, repaired permission etc. It spools to the printer even says 100% but nothing prints. Any ideas?

The printer will print from Safari, but not from Text Edit or Word

I fixed the printing problem on my HP Officejet Pro 8600. Some one on one of the other printing problem questions, suggested connecting via the IP address which I did. This fixed the problem. Click add a new printer when the window opens select IP rather than default. The address for my HP Officejet Pro was 10.0.0.52. I don't know if all of the printers have the same IP address. You can check yours by printing the HP Network configuration Page. The 3rd item down is what you are looking for—URL(s) for Embedded Web Server. It also scans.

Thanks for this AnnRT!

I've spent the best part of a day trying to figure this out. Everything was fine and then one day nothing worked! I have narrowed the issue down to Bonjour via WiFi as everything worked fine via USB, and via IP over WiFi.

I've now set a static IP for the printer and things seem to be working fine again 🙂

Thanks!

Dang! This solution doesn't work for me. IP Addresses are the same. I've tried just about every solution/workaround I've come across and nothing has solved the problem. HP OJP 8600 still not printing. As others report, it spools and print queue says it about to start printing, but then bounces into idle/in use mode.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion, Chris. I had tried that a few times without any luck.

However, I was finally able to connect with a HP support person by phone, and she helped me resolve the issue. What was the resolution? Almost embarrassingly simple. She had me turn off everything: laptop, printer, router, airport extreme, and iPhone (which was connected wirelessly), and then to turn them back on, after a few moments, starting with the router.

Interesting ... I had problems with both Epsom and HP 8610. The Epsom would not print at all and the HP would print, not well, and did not show the scanner capability. That is, until I removed all the drivers, re-booted and then turned on the printers. Then both printers would react normally after setup which to my memory did not need drivers but just the operating system to have them installed.
