Your Mac came preinstalled with iMovie - which should work with 10.9.x
if you want a newer version, the latest is avail at the Appstore...

Hi,
when I upgraded my computer last year I didn't get Imovie or Garageband, unless they are hidden somewhere.

It is widely misunderstood, that iMovie is part of the MacOS-installation - that isn't so! iMovie was ,'til vers09, part of iLife, which was sold separately.
iMovie came preinstalled on any Mac since 2002 (?) ; so, it was always part of the Installer-Disks - which contain much more than just an OS. When you do a 'clean install', for sure any installed app gets erased and has to be installed back again.
Since distribution thru AppStore, you don't have a physical copy of iApps - just register your Mac, and you should be allowed to dl and install a 'free' copy of iApps - even after a clean install (or other maintenance processes, swapping hard drives etc).-
Hi, thanks for your help, I'll check that out.
can u please help me i can't download iMovie for osx 9.5 it says osx 10.10.5 or later required
The App Store only contains the latest version of iMovie (10.1.1). this requires Yosemite (OS 10.10.5) or later.
Geoff.
You guys are no help here. Obviously, we are here looking for an older version of iMovie without updating our operating system.
If you want iMovie 9 you have to (re) install it from an iLife DVD. I think you will find that these are still available from Amazon.
