I have a Macbook air from October 2013. I have successfully upgraded to Yosemite yesterday from the App store, but the problem begins after that. It boots very slow, sometimes even halt. How can I fix the issue? Thanks.

I have this problem too, even my macbook pro won t shut down any time. I must power off it physically.
Not sure if this may solve your problem, but I've come across this on one of the Macs here.
This helped the bad mac, and we appear to be back to normal.
On my other mac, I go from cold to logged-in within about 12 seconds (I run an SSD).

My Mac Book Air is from May 2014 and I have the same problem, along with very slow Internet access using Safari. All I got from the Apple Store Genius was "I haven't had this problem on my machine." Can anyone help us figure out how to improve the reboot times?

The startup process has several stages. Please see this support article and determine at which stage the delay happens. How long is the delay?
I have reinstalled Yosemite. It's better though still slower than before.
I have a mid 2011 iMac and I have the same slow booting problem.
I think this is just a general issue, hopefully apple will release an update that speeds things up, I'm having the same problem. 😟 it takes me about 2 mins to BOOT up
I'm having a 20sec lag during the User Environment Setup.
my boot up times were slow before Yosemite and glacial after.
responsiveness in Finder was the same.
90 secs to display my Applications window content while CPU activity registered less than 10%.
Finally bit the bullet and copied my boot drive to a new drive and then back.
Took 10 hours to copy and 5 hours to restore.
Boot time went from 30-40 mins (once all extensions and apps loaded) to 5 mins.
Given this a an early 2008 MacPro I am happy with the result.
I have tried everything which could possibly help but it's getting worse. Now along with boot lagging issue, some of my applications are not functioning. Can I downgrade back to Mavericks?
I think Apple need to release a MAJOR update to fix this issue.
It use to take me 15 seconds to boot up, now it take me 2/3 minutes.
