Oct 28, 2014 7:42 AM in response to guma3208by Rufle_s,I have MacBook Pro (13, 2012) and after I installed yosemite beyond the slow start (on the progress bar), my mac has slowed in general, need to click on things give two clicks and the top menu bar is black.
I tried everything here and nothing worked.

Oct 28, 2014 8:36 AM in response to guma3208by Importing video from HDR-CX11E,Same problem here. Everything slowed down, or does not even open because of time out. I want to get rid of Yosemite, can I go back to Mavericks?

Oct 28, 2014 1:17 PM in response to Importing video from HDR-CX11Eby synergy,★HelpfulMy iMac 27 did the same thing. I reset the PRAM, repaired permissions etc, to no avail.
What worked was:
Preferences / Printers : Select the active printer by RIGHT clicking. In the sub menu select: "Reset Printing System". All printers / scanners are removed.
Then: Click the '+' to add your printer back.
My system is 50 times faster... ba boom.

Oct 30, 2014 2:05 PM in response to Importing video from HDR-CX11Eby Wolf Smith,I've had the same problem ever since upgrading from Mavericks. My restart time went from 15 seconds to 2+ mins.
Apple knows everyone is having this problem. They just haven't responded because there isn't a fix yet. Once they know how to solve it they'll quietly send out a patch but don't expect them to ever admit that there OS is buggy.

the following:
What worked was:
Go to Preferences / Printers : Select the active printer by RIGHT clicking. In the sub menu select: "Reset Printing System". All printers / scanners are removed. Then: Click the '+' to add your printer back.

Nov 1, 2014 5:49 AM in response to prkoatby bharatht,Hi,
I have a similar problem. My booting time is fast but once I login with my password, menu bar goes black and loading spinning wheel appears. This stays for about 15 seconds and then computer is normal again. Till then I cannot use any application. Mavericks was near instant for me. Is this the slowness in login you mentioned.. If so is there any workaround?
-
Nov 1, 2014 10:10 AM in response to bharathtby Importing video from HDR-CX11E,Yes I had the same symtoms with the loading spinning wheel, but I can only repeat what I have mentioned already here before,
resetting the printer brought everything back to normal, here is what you have to do:
Go to Preferences / Printers : Select the active printer by RIGHT clicking. In the sub menu select: "Reset Printing System". All printers / scanners are removed.
Then: Click the '+' to add your printer back.
That's all and after that my mac was back on track and super fast again!!

Nov 7, 2014 6:55 AM in response to Linc Davisby ViMug,The article linked to this one was spot on ... my problem was with the gray screen (after a partial prog load, indicated by a start-up bar which only filled about 1/4 of the way). My system froze (sometimes it would continue but most times it just froze). My problem was a printer ... when unhooked my system failed to "freeze" again. Thank you for your expertise and willingness to advise.

Nov 8, 2014 2:23 AM in response to Rufle_sby busker,I had the same problem with my iMac 27" late 2013. It turned out to be some obsolete startup items. I found them using EtreCheck : http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
I removed the guilty files and now I boot in less than 30 seconds

Nov 8, 2014 2:43 AM in response to prkoatby 420lebigmac420,I was using a Dynex 2.0 USB 4way hub. Disconnecting it made little to no difference . Glad yours is *almost* back to normal.
