Oct 23, 2014 7:01 AM in response to Gary Scotlandby londonguy99,Perhaps someone can tell me then.....did Apple warn its users that there may be problems with peoples existing printers, by downloading Yosemite? Did Apple allow a selective updating within Yosemite, in order for consumers to have the choice whether to retain the existing driver and printer? Did I just miss being specifically told by Apple that I should check first, to see if things like printers that I use with mac, have a compatible OS 10.10 update? Was it just assumed by Apple that I wouldn't be stupid enough to download their Yosemite until I had checked with all my other technology providers that their instruments could actually continue to be used once Yosemite was downloaded? Maybe its just me being stupid and trusting that Apple wouldn't be so unthinking or uncaring and expect someone who has invested a lot of money in Apple products, to not have checked first. Or perhaps I should have read the forums here first, and NEVER download anything from Apple again for a few months until I have read that all bugs and issues have been fixed? Silly me, for actually trusting Apple in the first place, that it really did care about its users, rather than just seeking to maintain a market ego.

Oct 23, 2014 7:16 AM in response to londonguy99by Geezer4512,This is what happens with no Steve Jobs to keep the ship tight. So much for the old trusting apple to be "plug & play". I thought I left this kind of problems behind when I changed to Macs from PCs.

Oct 23, 2014 7:18 AM in response to Gary Scotlandby barolo55,Guys, I suggest the following "workaround" (that's how I keep working...):
If you have a virtual machine with a Windows version (I have Win7 running on Parallels) you can configure your Kodak printer under Windows.
Once you need to print something from MAC, save it to a folder instead. Switch to Windows, open the saved file(s) and print it to your Kodak printer.
I know, it's not an elegant method, and the pre-requisite is, that you have Windows installed on your Mac. But at least for me, it works.
So I can give Kodak some more days to fix the driver issue, before I am going to buy a new printer....

Oct 24, 2014 7:24 AM in response to raymondfromweymouthby pianoman83,Mine was saying filter failed whenever i tried to print, (Kodak ESP 1.2)
after online chat with kodak I uninstalled the kodak home centre software and installed this one
http://download.kodak.com/digital/software/inkjet/mac/KODAK_AiO_Printer_v7_6.dmg

Oct 24, 2014 11:40 AM in response to raymondfromweymouthby asttony,Hey Guys,
***Possible workaround***
I'm using a Kodak ESP 9250, and am seeing the same error when trying to print. I have spoken to Kodak and they have tried to fob me off with the previous Driver - This did not work in my case.
I have found a solution, not ideal- but working / workable until Kidak release a driver for the ESP 9250 that I am using.
I am moving all files that I want to print to a USB drive and then plugging that into the printer to allow direct printing.
Maybe this will help someone else out there? It didnt occur to me right away as I never use USB to print..

Oct 25, 2014 10:50 AM in response to londonguy99by Andrew763,To those who would blame apple for the kodak problems:
Yosemite has been open to developers for MONTHS now. Anyone with a developers license would be able to download the OS and test their software. On October 22, the same day I downloaded OS 10.10, I also installed printer driver updates from hp, Ricoh, and Epson (these are the printer brands that I currently use between work, home, and parents' house). It would seem that all major players in the printer business knew about this and made the necessary changes. Kodak customers are, unfortunately, at the mercy of a company that no longer manufactures printers. It's a wonder that they still maintain some semblance of support for them. Technically, they could shut down their website and say, sorry. . .these products are no longer supported, you'll need to buy another printer.
It ***** for us that kodak wasn't on the ball enough to update their software and have it ready now, but don't blame apple for that. It appears all the other printer manufacturers got the message. At the same time, if kodak does actually send an update, I would admire them for still putting forth the effort (even if it's really late) to help former customers of a division of the company that no longer exists.

Oct 25, 2014 2:14 PM in response to Andrew763by londonguy99,Thanks for the attitude. In response, I certainly didn't know that Kodak no longer manufacture printers, and therefore may no longer support them by providing drivers after Apple updates. I guess it's beyond the wit or helpfulness of Apple to have actually given a warning on the download, that Kodak - or other printers - might no longer be compatible with Apples Yosemite. That at least, would have warned me off downloading Yosemite and given me an informed choice. Instead, Apple is hellbent on pushing their new downloads, rather than actually thinking of their customers, who may actually experience problems (such as printers no longer printing) and giving a warning message pre-download. Plus the fact that I can now only reinstall and revert to Mavericks IF I have backed up, without losing all of my stuff. Nope, I'm still not persuaded that it's not Apples fault, I'm afraid - a simple warning message from Apple pre-download would have been helpful, allowing me the informed choice of whether to install Yosemite and risk no longer being able to print or to remain with Maverick. I'm even more convinced it's simply the Apple ego that is their driver.

Oct 27, 2014 6:20 AM in response to londonguy99by Andrew763,Sorry to seem as though I was being snarky. I was simply attempting to shed more light on the subject. You are absolutely correct about Apple. I Don't think it would have been too difficult for them to warn customers to check with their printer manufacturer before they update their OS. I was responding to the comments you and that others made about Apple giving printer companies ample notice about their changes. I meant to just give information. I think both companies dropped the ball a little bit here. However, with every upgrade that I've ever done with software and hardware, there are always glitches like this. Some are definitely more inconvenient than others. You and I are just victims of one of these glitches. We probably represent a very small minority of customers. Hence, we are under the radar as far as Apple is concerned. I feel your pain. We have no other alternative but to wait. It stinks, but that's reality.

Oct 27, 2014 2:28 PM in response to raymondfromweymouthby InspectorGadget,I know this is not going to be the best reply for all but .... I have just printed to my 7250 from Windows via VMWare.
I turned off the option in VMWare to share printers on the MAC. loaded the Windows drivers for the printer and set up the printer via the ethernet. I selected sharing on the PC and Works a treat. Also from the mac I printed CMD/P and sent a BASH screen dump - selecting nearby printers.... Happy days.
If you do not have VMWare I am sorry for being so smug.

Oct 29, 2014 4:52 PM in response to barolo55by barolo55,I found the solution in another thread. Thanks to frankglyn who posted it there.
I've just copied it here, as this seems to be the most active thread on this subject.
The solution (steps A to C) worked fine for me and others and should work for you as well, until Kodak will come with an updated driver. Then, you can revert the changes as also described below (steps 1 to 7)
A) in Spotlight Type Terminal and then press enter.
This should bring up the terminal window/program.
B) In the Terminal type sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
It will ask for your password.
C) After that type following: sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
After that if you are lucky the printer driver should start to work. (which it did in my case)
I hope this works out for you, if not then you can do following to revert the changes:
In case you want/have to revert the changes:
1) Open the terminal as usual (Spotlight type Terminal hit enter and wait for the terminal window to appear)
2) then type: cd /etc/cups
3) then type: sudo nano cups-files.conf
4) 'type in your password'
This brings up a command line editor which you can use to edit the file
5) Remove the last line which says Sandboxing Relaxed
6) press 'ctrl x'
And then confirm with y when being asked if you want to save the changes
7) after that type sudo launchctl start org.cups.cupsd
After that the changes should be reverted and you are back to stock behavior.

When it asks for your password just type it in and press return, it does not show up on the screen as it is hidden, this stumped me and I had to search of the answer.
This sets the sandboxing back to how it was under Mavericks. When Kodak come out with an updated driver you can reset it to the higher security setting contained in Yosemite.
