How can I turn off two-step verification

provides the correct method - why did you think it was wrong? Of course when you go to http://appleid.apple.com you will have to go through the 2-steps to get into it, requiring the password and either the code sent to your 'trusted device' or the emergency code you were given when you set it up.

When you go to http://appleid.apple.com are you asked for a code sent to your 'trusted device'? If so, once you have signed in, you are going to the 'Password and Security' section?

I'm afraid I don't know why that would be. Can you confirm that you had to go through the verification code process in order to get into the page?

That's odd: if you don't have to use the 2-step to get into applied.apple.com it suggests that it's not set up - which would explain your not seeing the link to stop it. Is there a link to set it up in the first place? I don't know why it would be doing this if your phone is demanding 2-step.

I don't have any of those options either. For instance.... I go to 'Password and Security' It's asking me 2 security questions which I don't remember ever filling in. There is no link on the page for anything and yes I do have a verified rescue address linked to the account. The only clickable link on the page is 'Temporary Support PIN' Which I've no clue what to do with or what it's for. I can't change my password or do anything.

I think Apple changed these pages and didn't update the instruct?

What you describe is what you would see if 2-step verification had not been set up. If you are sure that you really did set it up then plainly something is not as it should be. You should probably contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Apple ID account Security'.

can i tell you how much i hate these forums? what people describe is NEVER the same because they ALWAYS change the software...so your suggestions are never appropriate for the issues people encounter....I pray nightly for Steve Jobs to come back from the other side. This stuff never happened when he was here.

I don't know about this particular case, but in general if you go looking for answers in a two-year-old thread rather than posting your own question, you are quite likely to get answers which are no longer applicable due to new systems being released.
