Hi All,

I purchased iPhone 5s from Kuwait. There FaceTime worked pretty fine. But after i reached India, I could not find FaceTime in "Settings" nor make any FaceTime calls. I contacted Apple support several times, and these are the solutions they suggested,

1. Restore iphone as New : After restoration, issue persists

2. Contact carrier and get the settings: I contacted Airtel, my service provider, and they confirmed no such update available ( Also i can use FaceTime in iPhone 4S with same carrier )

After so many calls and chats with Apple support, i don't have any answer for this. I want to make clear "FACETIAE IS AVAILABLE IN BOTH THE REGIONS".

Still, i can't use the FaceTime in India. Because of this, i can't also make/recieve calls in my Macbook 😟.

Please help!

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.0.2

What is the Model number of your iPhone, which can be found at Settings=>

General=>About=>Model (you may have to scroll down to see the entry

for Model).

Note- FaceTime may not be available, or may become unavailable, on devices purchased or used in certain countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Check your device's region of purchase for more information. http-//support.apple.com/kb/HT1937.

Try inserting your old Sim Card to see if FaceTime comes back. If it does, it is the carrier that is "removing" the feature.

Hi,

I understand the restriction. But I purchased phone in Kuwait & using it in India. In both the regions, the FaceTime feature is not at all blocked.

Nor carrier or government restrict Facetime in both the regions.

That model is a KSA model. You will never be able to get FT on that model.

I have the exact same problem. I was gifted an iphone 5s that my brother purchased in Kuwait and now i am using it in India here with the same carrier Airtel. I have been trying to get facetime on my phone but no use. Have tried everything. My phone's model number is ME440AE/A. There should be some software fix for this?

It does not matter where the phone is used. If the phone was intended for sale in a country where FaceTime is prohibited the phone will never be able to use FaceTime. You cannot add or install FaceTime on those phones.

Thanks for the reply..I understand ur point but the handset was purchased in Kuwait and used in India and facetime is permissible in both the countries.

While your iPhone was purchased in Kuwait, the model was intended for the

Middle Eastern countries that prohibit FaceTime. Many gray market iPhones

are sold the region - iPhones intended for other markets. Your iPhone was

intended for an area where FaceTime is not allowed. You will not be able to

get FaceTime to work on that iPhone. Try Skype or one of the similar apps.
