I have just updated my Mac Pro to OS X Yosemite and the computer had been taking extra too long to start up and also extra too long to shut down

I have just updated my Mac Pro desktop to OS X Yosemite and ever since the computer had been taking extra too long(like more than 40minutes) to start up and also to shut down.

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)
