Can not seem to free up storage space on Iphone 6

Storage in iCloud is separate from storage on the phone. Storage on the phone is physical storage, storage in iCloud has no bearing on how much storage you have on the phone. Deleting content from iCloud will not increase the amount of storage on your iPhone.

Sounds like you either have sharing turned on, or Photostream, unless you had settings on to sync photos from the computer when you did a sync of the iPad. As far as clearing up Cloud storage, you can do that from Settings>General>Usage>iCloud>Manage Storage.

Yes, if you don't want that turn off sharing. You can also go to icloud.com and sign in, and delete photos from there.

I think you need to go to Albums and then Recently Deleted. There you will find all the local photos that have been deleted in the last 30 days but are still recoverable. Select All and deletes these, assuming you no longer want the option to recover them. This will free up local storage.

I have been using the iPhone 6 for last 6 months and have learnt a few ways to increase the storage space. The best way is DropBox. That was it! I have tried everything including the following process suggested in this order that did NOT work:

1. backup phone

2. restore OS

3. restore backup

The "Storage Full" message after deleting pictures, apps, and all of the above still appeared.

All deleted pictures were still in the "recoverable" mode in ALBUMs on my phone. This solution freed up 5 GIGS on my iphone 6
