It won't work on Yosemite unless you update to 10.1.3.

I'm having the same problem as GoldenEagles, but it won't let me update to 10.1.3. There are "no updates available" in the app store. How else can I update the app?
Trash FCP, launch App Store then log in.

IIt will work if you log in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase it.
So am I stuck if I bought my mac second hand, with FCP already installed on it, but has been rendered obsolete by the upgrade to Yosemite?
The software license is not transferable. You need to a purchase a legally owned copy of the software.
