Q: Macpro 10.10 lag

I have a MacBook Pro 2010, 2.53 Ghz i5, 4GB memory 1067MHz DDR3, running on OS X Yosemite.

I use to use this computer for school work and computer game, as recently(pretty much as soon as i upgraded to 10.9.5), my computer has been lagging a lot when I play games (DoTa for example), and those game worked perfectly fine before. I don't really know much about computer but I really wish to have this problem solved.

Thanks

Download "Memory Clean" From the mac App Store, install it and frequently just clean your memory because Yosemite uses a lot of ram. Its fairly easy to use and its useful

Run this and copy and paste the results here.

I would also upgrade your RAM. 4 GB is marginal.

BTW, this is the Mac Pro desktop forum

I downloaded this app, and originally it says i used up to 3.2 GB memory without any program running and i only have about 200 MB left, but i kept on cleaning mutiple times (about 8 time) and now it has 2.44 GB avaliable. This is good, but also odd for me since I don't understand how can I be using 3.2 GB without any program running, and how can it clean up that much memory. Is the any setting problems that i should be aware of?  Thanks

More RAM! Also how good is your SSD?

Run Etrecheck and post results, maybe you have something running in the background.

UPDATE. I tried running the game with "Memory Clean" running. And when i open the game I have about 1.2 GB avaliable; but as game process, the memory left became less and less eventually hit about 20 MB left (starts to lag a lot when less 300 MB was avaliable), it was mostly File Cache and App Memory; then I used "Memory Clean" and the memory left would raise back to about 900MB but it still lags a lot. Any thoughts or solutions?

    Thanks

Btw, File Cache could sometimes be using about 2 GB memory and after clean it would become about 800 MB. and reguarding SSD and RAM, and really don't know what is considered good. I brought this computer in 2011 and used it only for school work and some games. And what is file cache anyways?

Only 4 GB of memory is part of the problem as show by the Page-ins and outs.

Also you seem to be infected with the Genieo malware

Go to http://www.macsales.com/memory and see what MBP 2011 8GB RAM kit cost, then get the largest SSD you can.

i checked the website, there are 8 GB, 12 GB and 16 GB etc.. but which one should I get? there's so many choices for same memory size.. also does SSD is needed? because my computer is pretty fast as long as I don't play game..

It is not a virus but malware. See:
