Can't print after installing Yosemite OSX
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10)
1) Plug in you printer
2) Connect it to the USB
3) Run System Upgrade from App Store
4) Drivers should download
5) If not, find your printer driver by visiting your manufacturers website and search for Mac OS X drivers.
6) Post here an update us if it works or not.
7) If it doesn't work, we can assist you here
How do you "Run System Upgrade" from the App Store? I typed in System Upgrade and nothing shows up. What am I missing??
1) Click on the "App Store" icon on your dock or search spotlight.
2) With App Store open, there should be five tabs names, "Featured" "Top Charts" "Categories" "Purchases" and "Updates"
3) Click on the "Updates"
I apologize it is "Updates" NOT system upgrade.
"System Update" is for linux. I.E: "sudo apt-get update" or "sudo apt-get upgrade" in terminal.
What kind of printer is it? What happens when you try to print? Is there anything in /var/log/cups/error_log in /Utilities/Console?
My Mac is an MacBookAir; printer is a Kodak 5250. It worked perfectly with all osXs until I upgraded to Yosemite. grrrrr.
Error message reads: An unexpected error occurred. Check the printer (100305)
Is there anything in /var/log/cups/error_log in /Utilities/Console? It's possible this is a sandbox error or a filter failure. If so, there won't be any updates from Kodak.
Can't understand you. What is "sandbox"?
Found sandbox folder but don't know what anything is in there.
Are you saying all I can do is to reinstall Mavericks???
I've got exactly the same problem running a Kodak ESP3 Printer.
Even tried uninstalling and re-installing the printer, but still no luck. Ran test prints via Kodak Home Centre, and test prints were OK.
Checked for software updates from Kodak, but firmware and software is up-to-date
Look in the error_log in /var/log/cups/ in Console. Is there any mention of sandbox or a filter failure? (I don't mean a "sandbox" folder.) If it is sandbox error, and Kodak won't release new drivers, installing 10.9 or getting a new printer are the possible solutions.
Tried to update printer drivers as suggested by Mason H.
Only Kodak drivers available were for MAC OS X 10.9.x, MAC OS X 10.8.x, MAC OS X 10.7.x, MAC OS X 10.6.x, MAC OS X 10.5.x, not MAC OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).
Downloaded the .dmg file anyway and ran instal.
Printer still will not print.
Help would be appreciated please
I Finally did a restore to Mavericks. Now the printer works!
Had a look in console and there were loads of sandbox errors, and so I've emailed Kodak to ask when they are releasing drivers for Yosemite. As of yet, I haven't had a reply.
Had an email from Kodak today, and they say:-
"Our research and Development team is working on latest version Yosemite. You will receive the update soon."
As soon as I get anything else, I'll post it here
Still waiting for new driver from Kodak. Won’t Apple issue a patch to Yosemite???
