Q: Does iClouid Drive require share locally?

Does the iCloud Drive require the same space on your local Drive like Dropbox (Such as your hard drive you use matches the size of my Dropbox account 1 GB on Dropbox = 1 GB on Mac).  I'm looking to move my iphoto and itunes folders off of my external hard drive to iCloud.  Dropbox requires I have the same space I'm using locally. Anyone know? Thanks.

iCloud drive will sync all documents across your devices, so yes, it will mirror the cloud content on your Mac.

I'm looking to move my iphoto and itunes folders off of my external hard drive to iCloud.

To move your iTunes folder off your mac check out iTunes Match.  You can store your iTunes Library completely in iCloud, but naturally need a local backup somewhere on your mac, perhaps a backup drive.

    See:  http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

For your iPhoto library wait till early next year, when Apple will release the Photos.app for the Macs and iCloud Photo Library will be available on your Mac. Apple did not yet publish much, how this will work on a Mac.
