Q: iOS 8.1 LTE / 3G / 2G toggle

I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.1 but the toggle to switch between LTE , 3G and 2G not exist and is described on the update list ?

I updated my iPhone via OTA if that the reason ?

Thanks

Im having the same problem. I figured it was an issue from upgrading OTA from a beta version. I've tried everything including restarting and resetting my network settings.

Im on an iPhone 6 using att.

Try restoring you iPhone using iTunes. First back up your device to either iCloud or your computer.

Apple may given the option back, but I'm pretty sure AT&T won't support it, so that's likely why you can't find it on your phone.  You need to check with AT&T.  Apple has ZERO control on what carriers offer.

I contacted AT&T support about it and they wouldn't say anything except restore your iPhone. I hate AT&T so much

Hate aside, I'm curious why 2G/3G is important to you?  Do you not line in the US, where LTE service is just about everywhere?

Well lets just say AT&T doesn't have the best service where I live and I could save battery by not having my iPhone scanning for LTE signal when there is none

    Same here,

I just updated my iPhone 5S and I'm in T-Mobile here in the US. In the change log for iOS 8.1 they said it will enable you to change from 2G to 3G to LTE. For me since I'm getting a wide coverage in T-Mobile's LTE network but I'm so curious that why Apple wouldn't put the toggle under setting>>cellular.

I am surprised how screwy this feature is, it would be super useful if this feature worked haha. I feel like we will all have to wait for a carrier update unfortunately

Kind of depends; for example, for AT&T there's a fair amount of area, especially in the Western US, that has no coverage at all and a lot is not LTE.

Not to mention LTE frequencies often don't penetrate buildings unless a tower is nearby, causing a fallback to 4G or below.

Yeah, but for some reason in my house I have either no service or 2G. It is very weird. But other than that they do have a fair amount of LTE coverage where I live

MMe too have the same problem on my iphone 6. Did the update to 8.1 hopibg that I can switch off 3G but no option except for enable LTE. I am using Airtel in India. But I did notice that the carrier update is the same for 8.02 and 8.1, "Airtel 18.0" does that have to do with anything.

I'm having a same problem. Unable to toggle between 2G/3G. No impact on carrier settings as they stated in iOS 8.1 update.

    Network: Airtel

    Location: India

    iOS release: 8.1

    Model: iPhone 6

Please help me here. I tried to reach my customer care for settings on this and they said its all depends on your handset and software.

Its problem with Airtel, switch your sim to vodafone or other network which doesn't have LTE and you will have the toggles as soon as sim card is recognized. U needn't reset anything.

I to have same problem with Airtel in Bangalore.

The only solution is to swap to a older 2g sim.
