The previous update erased my friend's modem mode, lol.

I believe, only having issue in iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1 update.

Only WIND Italy that is unofficial Apple carrier has the toggle.
I asked on Twitter at their verified account btput they didn't know what I was talking about

Im from Sri Lanka and i too have the same problem where i dont have the option to select the network type. Im using a 4G compatible SIM from Dialog Axiata, but havent activated the 4G connection for my sim. It means normally i can only use 2G/3G or both. but if the case is not to have a 4G enabled sim then i should get this option. i have an iPhone 5S
Here's what i have done; firstly i update to ios 8.1 from ios 8.0.2 OTA. - NO OPTION TO CHANGE 2G/3G
secondly did a full reset through the iphone - NO OPTION TO CHANGE 2G/3G
thirdly downloaded the 8.1 ipsw and did a clean restore through itunes - NO OPTION TO CHANGE 2G/3G
So I really like to know whats up with that.

Oct 21, 2014 9:19 AM in response to netman_uyby Hatstrow,I'm also having the same issues with the options for selecting between 2g, 3g, and LTE not showing up. I reset Network Settings, updated PRL, reactivated my iPhone 6, and restored my iPhone and setup as new iPhone.

While I upgraded to iOS 8.1 on both devices, the iPhone 5 have the option of "Voice&Data" to chose either 2G/3G/LTE whereas the iPhone 5S donot have except to switch on/off LTE. On both the phones I have Airtel SIM and based in Hyderabad. this is crazy

As stated before I´m from the Netherlands, being a vodafone customer and the menu doesn´t appear (neither on the other dutch providers), But if I put my turkish vodafone sim card in it (being used during holidays normally) the menu appears, so indeed it´s a carrier bundle issue.
