Q: safari iOS 8.1 freeze and slow

Hello,

i have same problems with ios 8.1 with my Ipad3. when the Google search shows me the results, the blue links does not respond when I  tap. Safari was as if frozen. I have to drag the page up or down so that the link becomes active again. Further the application is very slow. Today I tried iPad Air it was same thing !!!!

the problem persists since updating iOS8.0.0. I am very disappointed with Apple.

excuse me for my english, I am french.

I Reported to that web site. Hope Apple takes some action. I am just a user, not an Apple expert, so I hope they get the idea that safari is a problem. I also mentioned that I cannot always use 4 fingers to close an app. I must bring up control center And then 4 fingers works.

Bought the iPad Air 2 two days ago and have had safari freeze up about a half a dozen times.  My biggest gripe with Apple is they usually do not acknowledge anything as an issue until the mainstream media reports it.  Hopefully they realize there is something wrong with safari in IOS 8 and above.  I was not having issues with my 2+ year old iPad 4 that was still running iOS 7.1.2

Shame, cause this iPad air 2 is lightning fast in safari when it works, very close to desktop browser speed that my windows i7 machine provdes.

Throw in the noise vibration issue, and I am about to return it and wait for next gen or some sort of fix.  This is really bull&*^t o have these issues with a 700 dollar device that is less than week old, especially since a return for a new one probably will not fix it.

Apple has apparently chosen to stonewall the disastrous problems with iOS 8 (and all its upgrades, including 8.1). Some people have reported partial improvement in some functions, but those of us with substantial technical expertise see that there are truly major problems with this OS. My advice is to hang in there until iOS 8.2 comes out to see if the problems have been corrected. But honestly, I've tried ALL the suggested/recommended procedures of the more experienced users here (sadly, APPLE offers NO acknowledgement and no solutions), and the improvements are unsatisfactory. Absurd. Shameful. A waste of valuable time.

SStrange mainstream press are very quiet on this issue, I guess they are afraid to upset Apple?

If you're into conspiracy theories, then yes you'll believe the press is complicit in covering it up ... LOL ...

BUT ... the actual fact of the matter is that the press isn't reporting "the disaster" because there is no disaster ... only a very few out of the overall installed user base ... having any major problems!

Of course to the very few who are having some major problems ... it seems like a 100% to them ... :-) ...

I'm sorry but yes this is a disaster and it's probably affecting all users. Everybody I know have issue under iOS 8.x, it's just that depending on the user level of knowledge they don't blame the OS, they just think that they did something wrong. Ask someone if Safari is slow, they will tell you "no but my internet is slow"...

Neither my Safari or my Internet or my iPad is slow with iOS 8.1 ... for me ... and neither is it for the vast and overwhelming majority of iPad users ... which is exactly why you don't see a whole slew of news articles from various press agencies about "the disaster" ... :-) ...

It's only a disaster to the person who has a major problem. It's like having a flat tire ... it's never a problem for people UNLESS they have one ... then they have it 100% ... LOL ...

The problems affect sites that use Javascript fairly heavily, and are interactive. My engineering team has been affected by these bugs and they are pretty catastrophic for certain kinds of web applications. It appears it gets worse if you go to a site, start using it, then exit with the Home button and then go back to the browser later.

If you're using a site just to read articles and the site isn't very interactive, you may not notice the problems.

You've got the key word right there : "for me". You know you're mostly right, all by itself iOS 8 is not too bad. The problem is that my 700$ device is now much slower than with iOS 7, I was expecting the opposite. The new iPad Air 2 is shipped with iOS 8 and is very fast, just imagine how it could have been under iOS 7... iOS 8 is a mess for everyone except for you. So be happy, we're not.

My phrase "for me" ... makes invalid ... your phrase "all users" ... :-) ...

But even though all it takes is "one" to make your statement INVALID ... the fact remains that even here on this forum, I'm hearing reports from many users that they have either no problems -or- they have gotten solutions here so that they now have no problems.
