Nov 5, 2014 5:13 PM in response to Samsungbuyerby Jwp721,The best we can hope for right now is that 8.1.1 does indeed fix these issues. Expected release is in the next few weeks.
Turning it off and turning it back on is not a solution.
When I have issues with safari sometimes if I can open up a few more tabs and then pinnch the screen with two fingers so that all the tabs appear in a smaller form and then reopen the screen I was working on it will allow me to press on the blue highlighted links. Other times a refresh of the screen can solve the issue. And sometimes nothing but a restart of Safari is the only option. I will never be a lab rat for Apple again.

Does anyone know if there is a fix on the way? Or is there a solution I missed here?
There's always a fix along the way, as Apple is quite faithful in working on things that need fixing, and has always been that way. But as to whether Apple's issued fix on something relates to what you may have, is quite another story. This is only forum for "users helping other users" in providing solutions that a user can implement themselves. And these users have absolutely no knowledge from Apple about what Apple is currently working on. You won't find that here, although you could probably find a lot of speculation outside of here and in the press about what Apple may be doing.
If you want to get a problem registered with Apple so that someone can do something about it at Apple, you need to go somewhere else other than this users forum. For that ... you need to go to the Official Apple Support channels ...

Nov 5, 2014 5:40 PM in response to Samsungbuyerby Jwp721,No problem. Also if you haven't turned on reduce motion under accessibilty be sure to do that. It doesn't fix anything but it does mask the lagging issues when switching between apps.

Nov 5, 2014 7:27 PM in response to Star Travelerby Jeff 12,If you want to help us Star Traveler, can you please report yourself as a annoyance in this thread for telling people that they have no problems... As someone has pointed out in this thread, the terms of use of this forum doesn't allow for trolling. Also you may want to have a look at the difference between a fix and a workaround.
if a moderator read this, it would be great to add a way to give negative points to users, that way it can help to know who we can trust.
PS to Traveler : no needs to reply, I won't read anything you post. Thanks for keeping this thread clean.

Nov 5, 2014 9:52 PM in response to Star Travelerby Jjaayy73,Same for me, but I've got an ipad 2 and since the update to 8.1, my wifi is completely dead. No internet access to my 2.4 or 5ghz signals!
Geez, this *****!

If or when the acronym dictionaries add AA: Apple Apologist as a new entry, that comment in this context would be an excellent example IMO.
BTW, I'm one of the large number of contributors to this thread, and I have the latest iPad Air.

I beg your pardon? Who do you think you are to make such statement?
First of all, you should note that the bug affecting 8.1 concerns iPads which are currently on sale - thus your comment relating to the age of the devices is inappropriate.
In my case it is affecting my wife's iPad mini, but only since 8.1 - there was no issue under 8.0.2.
And the bug is not a simple performance issue but it makes the usage of Safari almost impossible! Hence, this is definitely a more serious issue!

You would have to ask Oliver Haslam since he wrote it ... :-) ...

You must have mistaken me for someone else, because that's not my statement.

Are you referring to Oliver Haslam?

Having said this, even if it was not his statement, he took the liberty to post which means that he adheres to it…
Anyway, let's cross the fingers that IOS 8.1.1 will fix the bug!

Here's what Oliver Haslam wrote that I've seen is 100% true over the last 30 years ...
"Software updates might pump life into older hardware for a short moment of time, but eventually we all know that our aging gadgets will eventually give up on us."
AND there's absolutely nothing that one can do to get around this.
