Q: safari iOS 8.1 freeze and slow

Hello,

i have same problems with ios 8.1 with my Ipad3. when the Google search shows me the results, the blue links does not respond when I  tap. Safari was as if frozen. I have to drag the page up or down so that the link becomes active again. Further the application is very slow. Today I tried iPad Air it was same thing !!!!

the problem persists since updating iOS8.0.0. I am very disappointed with Apple.

excuse me for my english, I am french.

We should not have to reply on 'fixes' at all.  Validation, verification and attention to detail should be the fundamentals behind a company such as Apple.  Its a good job they don't make Aircraft!

Not at all, we simply should not be in this situation and we should not have to wait this long for Apple to resolve the difficulties.

Still can't believe that Apple are continuing to bury their heads in the sand and as of yet I've still to see any official acknowledgment about how they intend to fix the multiple problems which are being experienced by many, many users.

I don't know who gave you the idea that Apple EVER announces in a press conference or on an Apple website that they are going to issue fixes. Apple has NEVER done this ... so I don't know why you seem to be expecting that procedure now.

What Apple does is take Apple Support trouble reports, then analyzes to see if anything happens to be related to a bug ... and if so ... they work on a fix which is released in one of the upcoming revisions. They NEVER announce what they are working on or when a revision is coming out or what is contained in the revision. BUT, by Apple's "history" ... they always fix the bugs, if there are any.

AND ... by the way ... as to whether there are bugs or not ... from what I've seen in the last 30 years for all computer systems and devices and companies ... there's never a major upgrade that is released where there are not some bug fixes coming up in the next revision. That's just the way it goes ... :-) ...

    An organisation going backwards.

I don't know how you ascertain that Apple is going backwards, when they have done the EXACT SAME THING for the iOS devices for the last seven years, without exception. There's no "going backwards" here ... it's the same process that happens every time for a major upgrade. They issue the upgrade, some users have problems, those problems are analyzed and Apple releases revisions.

I think you are merely unfamiliar with how this process works.

ARand what part of your bank is filled by Apple each week star traveller! Sorry, but if you climbed aboard the space shuttle you would expect the odd niggle, if however it was as useful as iOS 8.1 you would call it challenger or Columbia!  The more people like us post on here and share our stories with the bbc the more chance we have of getting Apple to come out and formally apologise and compensate us all in some way. Quite simply, if they dont, other companies profits will swell as the Apple is starting to taste rather sour now and people are sick of it. Remember Sony ericsson of not to long ago!

I Feel that star traveller is being paid lots by Apple, here in the uk we are now being told to wait for an update as no fix will last long. This all reminds me of Mercedes Benz in the mid 90s. A fantastic product that suddenly became ****! Took years before they acknowledged they cut to many costs and try to do things different and rushed, ps. My bow is running just fine!

One thing that is clearly a violation of the Terms of Use here is for a user and poster on this forum to MISREPRESENT oneself and say that they represent Apple. So, I have to be clear here and make sure that I am not in violation of these Terms of Use and clarify that I do not represent Apple or work for them or work for anyone else that has any kind of business relationship with Apple.

    I hope that clears it up ... :-) ...

    Read the other terms including:

"Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. Most often, a "flame" is simply a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory. However, this also includes those which are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive in a sexual, racial, cultural, or ethnic context."

    Hello!

Can anyone please explain why the "spinning wait cursor" incessantly spins in Safari on every instance of hardware I own running iOS 8.1? - It does seem to be indicative of the slow page loads, unresponsive links, etc., etc.

Safari on my wife's iPad with iOS 7.1.2 loads pages double-quick with a few spins of the wait cursor - job done!

I agree!! Ever since I updated my ipad 2 from ios 7, I've had nothing but trouble, not just with Safari, but all apps are running at a snail's pace now. You need to get this worked out Apple. All the bells and whistles don't do a thing to make my life better if the basics don't work right.

AMazing how there is only 1 person in this community who fells like he can fix the issues with IOS 8, but there are hundreds who are still havin issues.   If there were truly a fix there would be a lot more fixers.   Come on 8.1.1.  You had better be the solution we are needing!

please  ignore any tyos,   incorrect capitalizations,  or blank spaces..   I am running IOS 8.

    Here is an update.

If you look at a bunch of posts back you'll see that I actually sold my iPad 3 because of this issue and bought a Nexus 9 (Android).

Well although the tablet is great, there is still a lack of tablet optimized content for Android compared with Apple.

I decided to return the Nexus 9 and buy a shiny new iPad Air 2 which came with 8.1 out of the box and is super fast in every respect except for ... yes... you guessed it... SAFARI !!!

Safari still is super slow to open web pages most of the time, sometimes completely frezes, i can't click on any link or enter a new web site without closing and restarting safari.

The iPad has even completetly froze and needed a hard reset when switching from spotify to safari which had never happened on my iPad 3.

Unless i'm the unluckiest person on the planet, whoever says that these problems are isolated and affect only a small percentage of devices are full of sh.....

I now have to use chrome because safari doesn't work on my 760$CAD device.

    Apple please fix this asap.
