Nov 16, 2014 4:44 PM in response to SBoszeby Robert Martin 1,Just out of curiosity, do you have the Facebook App installed and have you run it since you last rebooted?
It would be great if we could actually verify this. It might explain why some people have isses and some don't.

And Apple isn't admitting to the problem as evidenced by several phone calls to support. They refuse to acknowledge others are having this problem.
A lot of the frontline people won't know the overall statistics, in other words they are not supplied with them. So, you'll hear what that one person knows just from his own calls. If he or she is not familiar with the issue from their own calls, that's exactly what you'll hear from them. When you give them an issue, they're searching the database to come up with some answers. But, once you get beyond the front line people and if you escalate up, then you'll hear from some people who may have more "personal experience" on the issue (and then again, maybe not).
This is not a refusal to acknowledge, it's that they don't deal in statistics there, but only finding a solution for you. In other words it does not matter in the least whether these tech support people have "statistics" about the overall situation, because it's not relevant to them finding a solution for you ... just like the statistics are NOT RELEVANT to someone getting a solution here either.
As a company, why host a community support blog if you don't monitor it and respond to your customer's issues.
Apple hosts it for "users helping other users" and what you get here has absolutely nothing to do with Apple. Apple officially tracks issues for problems on their Apple Support channels. If you're asking why Apple is so nice to host a site for users, that's beyond the scope of what this forum is about.
Or let us know a fix is in progress?
SO ... you're asking why Apple doesn't do what it has never done, huh? It never discusses these things to the public or in a news conference to the Media ... NEVER. If you want to know for yourself what is going on ahead of time, join the developers group and you'll get some advanced notice ... BUT ... you have to agree to a NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT if you join that community and you will be prevented from talking about ANYTHING you know from the Developers area at Apple.

Nov 16, 2014 5:27 PM in response to SBoszeby Jwp721,Actually Apple has confirmed there is an issue. Their aknowledgement comes through the release of beta 8.1.1 supposedly intended to correct performance issues currently being encountered by users. When 8.1.1 will be released to the public is still not known.
My wife's iPad 2 and my iPhone 4s both work great. No lagging problems, no safari page freezes, no typing issues at all. But then they are both running IOS 7.1.2 !! My iPad 2 with IOS 8 is a completely different story.

Nov 16, 2014 5:42 PM in response to Robert Martin 1by noremacniai,I Agree Rob,
But you need to read all of Sarcastic Troll's posts to build up a picture- His contempt for suffering users is pretty blatant - They come to this forum for help and guidance yet get served only condescension and sarcasm!
BTW- I can see that he's doing just the same on other forums and the users there are just as upset with his petty sadism!

Are you still talking about helping users when you've got zero points? You would be a whole lot more credible if you got about 1000 points under your belt ... then we would see that other users actually rewarded you by giving you points. But from your present status, you don't appear to know how to give other users any solutions for their problem issues!
BTW- I can see that he's doing just the same on other forums and the users there are just as upset with his petty sadism!
It's those other forums where the users thank me for solving some of their issues. You ought to try it ... go to a bunch of other threads to help other users ... :-) ...

Evidenced by those users who've issues with iOS 8 on their brand new out-of-the-box iPad Air 2s - A FACT that ST selectively chooses to ignore!
I suggest we all just politely respond to further postings by ST with - "Dear Star Traveler please be so kind as to leave this post"
First one coming up!..

Anyone with that issue has it made with that new iPad ... they get excellent help from Apple Support, the same high degree of support that has earned Apple the highest ratings in the industry by their customers. They just go to Apple Support and they've got the newest warranty out there ... :-) ...
Apple Support
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar

AND ... I still get that high degree of service from Apple Support too, through their online chat, or my direct phone call to them, or their call-back service, and then the Genius Bar. I've used them all and they're great!

Nov 16, 2014 6:33 PM in response to noremacniaiby Jwp721,I would love to have some more points for helping someone. But for the issues at hand there isn't any help a user can provide. It has to come from Apple In the form of an update or admitting iPad2 has no business running IOS 8 and letting us go back to IOS 7. ST has been a member here for 10 years to amass 1500 points. I have been here about two months and have received 5 points and have seen him get a total of 60ish points. If I can get a few more points I will match his daily average. lol.

Nov 16, 2014 6:38 PM in response to Jwp721by Geoff37 ,OOnly Apple management know the extent of this problem and they will keep quiet to protect the Apple share price and reputation. However I do know the following......
i Have tested eight 8.1 devices, including an out of the box iPad mini, they ALL have the same serious problems. This is a clear indication that the problem is not limited to a tiny minority.it is statistically almost impossible for eight out of eight devices to display the same issues if they were in a tiny minority in millions.they are all16 gb so maybe a factor.
let us hope the next release fixes the problem, otherwise it's bye bye Apple.
i Have also spoken to three resellers who confirm same issues with current stock.

You know ... not everyone is cut out for doing this help thing on this users's forum. It's not so easy, and it's definitely a challenge. And yes, I've been here for that long, but I haven't been doing the help routine for that long. What it takes is covering a lot of different threads, in which you might talk to 20 people and only one of those results in some points awarded. I think it's good for me to be aware of these things and I've taught classes before in using Apple products, and have been in User Groups when they were a lot more popular than now. I think Apple makes great products and is the best company out there in its field and I'm glad to get the right information out there on how to use their products.
But for the issues at hand there isn't any help a user can provide.
But, I've seen that there is. I know not all people are helped by just one solution, however many users are. And so, there does remain a small group (compared to the overall user base) who still have lingering problems. I still promote people doing the fixes suggested, because a user never knows ahead of time what fix will help them.

Nov 16, 2014 6:58 PM in response to Geoff37by Robert Martin 1,What issues did they all have? Were they all A5 processors? There are definitely issues with this iOS release. There have been issues with every iOS release - just do a search. It would be good to try and find the common denominator here. I have a friend with an Air 2 and he has no problems. Is it limited to devices that operate in 512 Meg of RAM? My iPhone 6 has no problems. And deleting the FB App has made my iPad Mini useful again. i am using it to post this. So... let's all start comparing notes rather than backbiting and whining about Apple. Star Traveler is right - Apple never admits anything... They simply fix it as soon as they can and move on. I am not 100% sure this one is all Apple. Deleting Facebook helped me. I could see it right away in the way memory is managed. So, let's try and help.

Nov 16, 2014 7:01 PM in response to Star Travelerby accentaudio,Star Traveler, I am just going to come out and say it... Get a life! Seriously, you must have more time on your hands than anyone in the world. I picture you sitting there in a filthy gross bean bag chair, dirty t-shirt, unshaven, slobbering on yourself eating Cheetos, waiting for each and every response. For real, shut up! No one wants you here anymore, so go away!

Nov 16, 2014 7:13 PM in response to momolorientby Geoff37 ,I Have found turning off iCloud drive, background refresh and open new tabs in background (Turn off all these) improves responsiveness and seems more snappy, but the slow safari loading remains.
