Check this to check your carrier, iOS: Updating your carrier settings and if nothing, then contact the carrier to see when they are going to update. Most have reported after receiving a carrier update it is working.

Oct 20, 2014 1:44 PM in response to Divjot29by ChrisJ4203,Yes it is. The ability to change these settings is based on the carrier. Apple has done their update, now the carrier needs to do theirs. I have read other posters claiming that Airtel has posted an update. Whether you remember a carrier update in the past or not is not relevant. Use the link I provided to check for the carrier update, and if it is not available, then check with your carrier.

I'm also on Airtel in India and updated my iPhone to 8.1 but same thing no option to toggle for 2G. Tried your given set off options but still the same. Is there any other option for the carrier update as in Settings--------General--------------> About couldn't find any update

same with me too. Iam also an Airtel customer but was not able to find any setting to get the toggle. Even spoke to Airtel customer care but it looks like they are not that educated to help us with this issue. They are simply saying that since I have 3G enabled I can't have 2g toggle

Oct 23, 2014 8:29 AM in response to Divjot29by VelHan Vetri Ponirulla,this toggle issue is only with airtel but in vodafone it is available ... in my iphone 5 with vodafone showing toggle after updating to 8.1 but in my iphone 6 with airtel not showing toggle even after 8.1 ... it is an issue with Network operator AIRTEL ... they have to provide carrier update to fix this

even i I live in India and use airtel carrier
use a iphone 6 and iPhone 5
when both phones got updated to iOS 8.1 only iPhone 5 has the toggle option for 2g 3G and 4g
but not on iPhone 6 even though both run on the same carrier
it is a fault with apple update

But even after updating it the toggle is still missing. Blame my carrier which is AIRTEL as i can see the missing toggle after i put IDEA sim in my same handset. I am in Delhi.
AIRTEL should release carrier update asap to provide that 2G/3G/LTE toggle button as they have poorest 3G signals in Delhi.

Thank goodness! Finally a post from someone with common sense. They understand this is not an Apple issue, but a carrier issue.

Oct 24, 2014 8:28 AM in response to Divjot29by VelHan Vetri Ponirulla,iOS 8.1 is good and this toggle issue is with carrier AIRTEL ...Apple and iOS have no issues ... mail the carrier AIRTEL and ask them to provide carrier settings update ... current carrier settings is 18.0 they need to update it ... will be either 18.1 or 19.0
