Q: iOS 8.1 : copy and paste still not working normally

You're welcome.  They should be able to copy the URL by holding the link or copying from the URL field.

I haven't seen it on my iPad 4 and I am using the copy/paste function a lot.

The copy from the URL field is certainly the biggest complaint - that is a hit or miss....   But copying a URL from a google search for instance, the way you suggest seems to be working well.   If you open the link, then try to copy from the URL bar, depending on what is in the clipboard, that could work or not.

Someone said they think it is related to number of tabs open and/or the length of the items in the clipboard....

General slow operation, slow app loads, slow to type, slow to delete, random app crashes - mostly on ipad2/3/mini in comparison to the same devices on 7.1...  

If you open a link then can't copy the URL hit the back arrow then copy the link from the search.  What ever the cause of the problem I'm just looking for a way to make it work.

I just searched our database and I don't see reports of iPad 4 users complaining about copy/paste, I might be missing some, but it's not blatantly obvious as it is if I search "slow ipad" in our database where iPad 2, iPad3, iPad4, or iPad Mini, etc....

While in theory that is do-able - but in operation, my clients use cloud solutions and might have data in forms that they are filling out and just want to paste the URL to another tab, keeping the form open.   As I understand it anyway, that's one complaint.   For me it would be like this:

I run an IT business, client calls me, wants a quote on a widget.  I go to my vendor's site, find the widgets, open the links, find the perfect one, go to copy that URL to them or to my quoting system, and it pastes the wrong URL.

Or, I might be on a page, say this one....   And I want to share the URL with friends on FB... I go to the URL bar, and copy and paste to a FB status line, and boom, it pastes something from days ago.   Not to mention, FB then opens the preview of the page I just pasted.  Now I have to erase what I typed in the status, remove the preview or reload that FB page, then try to get the data into the clipboard and try again, and again, and again.   Sometimes a dozen times.

I'm new to Apple devices - we   first issued iPads and iPhones mid last year - but I was under the impression that as time goes by you should expect your devices to have insufficient processing power and memory to run the latest iOS. Maybe one should be extremely wary about upgrading anything older than a couple of years.

But despite that, there's no excuse for bugs like this one, nor the silence from Apple about it. An ETA would be good.

I am having the same issues on my iPad 2. General Slowness, Safari pages keep refreshing every time I leave and return, and the copy/paste issue. That's my Number 1, Number 2, and Number 3 complaints. Being a long term Windows user, I'm used to this type of quality, but I thought things were supposed to be better with Apply soluions, where the hardware and the OS are from the same vendor...???

I've had the Safari refreshing issue on my iPad 4 since IOS 7. I suspect it happens when the device doesn't have enough memory to keep the page. I'm not holding any hopes for this one to get fixed, except by getting a newer device. Can anyone confirm if this happens on the latest devices too?

How about another work around ?  If you can't copy from the URL field mail the page to yourself then you can hold your finger on the link and copy in the email.

Hahahah I have not tried that....  That's quite a bit of hoops to jump through, and with the slowness of the apps (mail/safari) loading, it might be just as frustrating as the alternative.  I will give it a try when I get some time and try to report back!

It's way too many hoops. But I figure I can try and find a temporary solution or join in the complainathon and help nobody. I like trying to help.
