Q: iOS 8.1 : copy and paste still not working normally

Most of the time, copying and pasting between apps give wrong results: when pasting, I get an older version of the clipboard, even after having done 2 factory resets. Does anyone has the same problem? I own an iPad mini first generation.

FINALLY, A SOLUTION ! A new clipboard app especially designed for iOS 8 just appeared in the App Store two days ago and solves our problem. Its name is «Clipboard-Copy History Keyboard Extension» and has to be installed as a third-party keyboard so it can be present whenever you copy and/or paste anything.

When installed and your pasting is irrelevant, go back to what you want to copy, switch your keyboard to your new "clipboard-keyboard" by tapping the little globe left of your space bar till you get it and copy your text again so it goes to this alternate clipboard. Now you can paste your text into any other app of your choice without problem!

I tried the program in the most difficult cases and it always worked.

I see it's on sale for free right now ... grab it while you can. I don't have a problem with the copy/paste function, but I grabbed a copy anyway ... :-) ... just to see what it's doing.

    And thanks for alerting us!

Thanks for the tip, i'll have to give it a try. Did you notice something strange ? The two people not having copy/paste problems are the first to reply. Hopefully everybody else will give it a try.

It's taking a little getting use to. I like that you can keep more then one item on the clipboard. Have you found a way to delete from the clipboard ? Thank you.

Is the warning about the keyboard being able to transmit anything you type something to be concerned about?

Yes, it takes a little time to get used to it but once you grab the concept, it works very well. You must use this app quite slowly since it is a bit sluggish. Your commands take sometimes a second or two to have an effect, but they work. And no, I didn't find a way to delete the consecutive entries. You can contact Teruaki Onoda, the conceptor of this app, on Twitter at https://mobile.twitter.com/whitedev to ask him about it.

Yes, anything you copy could be read by the app's programmer, but will he do it? Nevertheless, be cautious and never copy/paste any bank account number, password or vital data. Follow Apple's link on the subject in Settings>General>Keyboard for a complete description of the security concerns.

I found the support email address at http://park5.wakwak.com/~white/ShisenSho-en/Support.html (the support page for another of their apps). I've emailed to ask for the ability to clear entries.

This is a good app, worth having even if you're not experiencing this bug. It's incredibly useful having access to a clipboard history, it saves a lot of time if you're pasting several things from one app to another.

Note that they've included a numeric keypad to the right of the history. I've suggested they add some navigation keys there to assist with precise placement of the start and end points of the selection before copying.

Thank you, I'll give the link a try. I'm surprized there are almost no how to use instructions. If they said copy as you would normally. To paste change keyboard to clipboard then tap item to be pasted it would have made it simpler to use.. All part of the learning process I suppose.  I noticed anything you copy gets add to the clipboard even if you haven't selected clipboard.

The author replied within minutes to say he intends including both of my suggestions. I've sent them the link to this discussion.

I agree, but at least it works.

There's a warning at the bottom of the install instructions (available by running the app directly) which I think means that you mustn't close the app or you'll lose your history. I tried closing it, I tried powering off and on, I tried rebooting, but the entries are still there. I'm guessing that deleting the app might work if you're desperate.

I don't know if you need to actually run the app manually once to get it working, or if just installing it is enough.

It not only works it work well. Having my favorite links all in one place instead of having to copy/paste each time will be a great help when I'm trying to help on the Forum.

Could that be a bit dangerous? If you've got a dozen links saved, some relevant to these groups and some private, it would be easy to accidentally paste in the wrong one.

Perhaps the app should let you tag entries with a short description.

That's a good idea. I was thiking along the lines of the feedback link where the word feedback appears in the link. Right now it's tap contact, tap product feedback, copy link, hit the back arrow twice. hit recover, paste. The most important thing is we're talking about a solution Instead of the pointless complaining too many people engage in. I attached a link to flaberguest's solution and the first two replies the people refused because of the keyboard history issue. Oh well, you can only try.
