Okay,  looks like I'm taking a beating on this one.  No, I am not being paid by MacPaw. Like I said, I do not like (or trust) most of the software they put out.  My experiences with CMM2 has been nothing like what all of you are describing.  I have tested it very carefully and have not noted ANY problems... makes me wonder what the heck you all are doing with it.  WHATEVER!

My main point was in pointing out that Final Cut Pro 7 DOES work under Yosemite.  You merely have to clean out your broken FCP (if it is broken), using WHATEVER utility you prefer of have found that works for you or if you are savvy you can do it yourself manually. Simply re-install FCS and it should work.

Thanks for the caution, everyone.  I'm sorry your experience has been so very disastrous with CMM2. Annoying when that happens.... it just hasn't for me  (yet).  Maybe if I kept my project photos in iPhoto I would know it was not good for that. I do not operate that way.

    Godspeed!

In case fcp doesn't respond when launching: here's a simple workaround, working for either fcp 7 or fcp X:

Go to the app location in finder, CTRL click on the app and choose [Show Package Contents]. A folder [Contents] appears, click on it and choose [MacOS]. You'll see a Unix executable. Double click, you'll start Terminal. At the same time fcp will launch. After fcp is launched, close terminal and confirm when asked. Now fcp is up and running. Close fcp and the next time, just open fcp the normal way. DONE!

This worked for me. Took a while for FCP to load up but it did and now it is functional. Thanks GBH A'dam!
