Dec 4, 2014 10:21 PM in response to Mogwai13by Sophia Chung,I have the same problem on my iphone 5S 16gb. My phone kept restarting automatically for 3-4 times per day 3 weeks ago, but I think it was ok since I was able to use it. However, today it kept turning on and off with the blue screen constantly for 2 hours. I tried to connect it to iTunes to restore, but unfortunately the blue screen turned on while the phone was restoring. And now, when I plugged in my phone to iTunes, it kept telling me to do restore. I clicked ok, and the blue screen turned on again, and my laptop disconnected with the phone. So frustrated right now.
- I called Apple Customer Service, and they said it was a hardware problem and suggested me to repair it with $269 since my phone is no longer in warranty.
What should I do right now? Should I schedule an appointment in Apple Store and asked them if I can trade the phone in? Any help is appreciated!

See if this recall website works for you. I don't know if it has expired.
When my phone got to this point I could rarely get it booted back up. At
one point, I was able to keep it on long enough to email myself a
diagnostics test from Apple. They told me I could go into the store and get
the battery replaced for $79. But when I went into the store, it wouldn't
boot past the blue screen, so they didn't even try to replace the battery.
They told me again I could buy a new iphone for $269. Ultimately, I went
HTC.

Dec 5, 2014 7:37 AM in response to BricoleATXby Sophia Chung,HI BricoleATX,
Thanks for replying. I don't think my phone had battery issue since it didn't give any signal for that. i Already scheduled an appointment next tuesday, but after hearing your experience. i guess they would just tell me to get new phone. Actually this is the second phone Since the first one had some issue with the usb port, and I just used this phone since May. and another problem occurred again. I am so disappointed with Apple right now.

Dec 5, 2014 4:46 PM in response to Papapishuby eelasi,Hi Papapishu,
I have tried the method i mentioned on my Dec 4's post, and my iPhone has been without blue screen saga for more than 24 hrs now. So far so good. Will post again after 1 week. And, i recalled i did deleted all my apps on my mac just to create more harddisk space before my blue screen saga started. This "apps out of syn" could really be the cause for iPhone 5S to show blue screen as the phone is subjected to looping and looping. My spare iPhone 5C does not have any issue at all.
Anyway, hopefully this is the issue that cause the blue screen as suggested by you. If it is, Apple should do something by now...is taking freaking long!
Thanks for advising Papaishu, else my iPhone may end up as a relic in my store room. I nearly switch to Sony Xperia Z3...
Those with blue screen, you may want to give it a go as what Papapishu has suggested. No harm trying.
Cheers!

Dec 17, 2014 4:30 PM in response to Mogwai13by radiolarian,< 2 week old iPhone 6, 64GB, iOS 8.1
Just crashed while typing into search. First blue screen, then automatic reboot, and a pop-up saying voicemail password was incorrect.
As for overloading, no such thing here. I have over 50GB free. But if I paid a premium for a 64GB model, I'd like to think ~64GB is available. What's the problem, Apple?

Dec 17, 2014 10:27 PM in response to Mogwai13by katherinefromreadfield ,My iphone 6 has been doing this as well, except mine crashes and the screen in red. It has done this twice, both during updates. Apple needs to fix this problem or I'm switching back to samsung.

Dec 17, 2014 11:05 PM in response to Sophia Chungby Sophia Chung,UPDATE: I went to Apple store two weeks ago, and as BricoleATX said, Apple would not fix this issue, but they would replace you a new iphone. The problem was diagnosed as the usb port was broken and some short of hardware problem. Unfortunately, my phone was out of warranty two week before the phone had problem, so I had to pay $269 + tax = approximately $300 which is the replacement phone fee. I thought it was not worth it, thus I decided to buy an iphone 6. So far, the iphone 6 is great and has no sign of blue screen or any error after updating to iOS 8.1.2.
I see that many people having the same issue, and I believe that it is so frustrating and gives us headaches. What I suggest right now is that if your phone is still in warranty, bring it to Apple store and they will replace you a brand new phone. In order to give them evidence/ proof of the problem, you should use other devices such as ipad or another phone to record what happen to your phone, so they will not give you the reason that "I currently do not see any thing happen to your phone, so please come back again if the issue continues to happen." (Apple refused to replace my aunt a new iphone although her phone was still in warranty when her iphone 5S had broken lines on screen. And even she made appointment, they asked her to come back next time if the problem occurred again. The next time, she came with pictures of the broken lines appeared on the screen, so they replaced her a new iphone). I recorded the moment of my iphone 5S automatically restarted itself with blue screen for more than 5 mins, so they had no reason to ask me to come again. Good luck and hope your phones would get fixed/ replaced.

Dec 25, 2014 8:19 AM in response to Mogwai13by greywulfe,I had this problem happen to me. It wasn't immediately after upgrading to iOS 8, but it never happened before either. There were no recent apps installed. The only thing I did differently was to leave the phone on the charger overnight versus the 1 hour or so I typically charge it. I usually let the battery drain to near 0 on a regular basis. It blue screened in the middle of the night while on the charger.
I attempted to do a factory reset/restore via Itunes. I kept getting error code 40 or other similar errors partway through the restore. I left the phone sit a few hours, then the restore worked. However it blue screened again very shortly thereafter. After doing this a few times, I got the phone to go on an endless blue screen reboot/cycle. I decided to let it sit and completely drain the batteries (which it did overnight). The next morning I was able to plug it into my PC, do the complete factory reset/restore without an issue. Several hours later it is still working - but lets just say I am not very confident. The one constant was that the battery was being charged, or plugged into iTunes with this happened with a battery that was at or near 100%. Doing this from a completely drained battery worked and no issues so far.
All of the solutions - change USB cable, port - even different PC didn't work for me. The only thing that did work was to allow the battery to drain 100% and then do a the factory restore/reset. I will keep an eye out if this happens again and if it is when the battery is fully charged. But I was almost ready to bring this into service - drain your batteries and try to restore multiple times...I was suprised the first time it restored was after about 5-10 repeated tries.

Dec 25, 2014 12:46 PM in response to Mogwai13by lkindler,I just started having this same problem about three days ago. It happened one night and I got it to work and then yesterday it was fine. Today, it's been doing this cycle all morning. Very upset as this is not how I wanted to spend the holidays. Tomorrow, I will take it to an apple store but my closest one is over an hour and a half away. Luckily my phone is still under warranty so hopefully they can fix it or get me a new phone but I'm extremely disappointed with Apple and that they haven't come out with a fix for this yet. Not okay. I may have to become a Samsung customer if they don't fix my phone.

Dec 25, 2014 12:50 PM in response to lkindlerby greywulfe,I thought I was in a better spot - the phone worked for a couple of hours. Put some music on it, etc. Then it failed again (blue screen). Now I cannot restore even though I've tried multiple times. Mostly error code 40. It's one month out of warranty.

Dec 25, 2014 6:06 PM in response to greywulfeby DayHo,If you were like me I bought iPhone 5s when it first came out and it is just a a month or 2 out if warranty! This problem should be fixed by Apple for free. It is sad we pay all this money for a phone and in 14 months later they want us to pay another $269 for a problem that is clearly a problem in their end.
-
Dec 25, 2014 6:15 PM in response to lkindlerby DayHo,Totally agree! Shame in Apple for not taking care of this. My whole family uses iPads, iPhones, even iMac air. So disappointed in Apple right now.

Dec 28, 2014 7:51 PM in response to DayHoby eelasi,I agreed is definitely a software issue. Since I fix my blue screen issue on 5 dec till now, there has not been any reoccurrence.
Apple, pls address it. It seems to me think that Apple is using warranty period to conveniently solve the problem...sigh.
