Screen failure and data transfer
How do I transfer data if the machine with data has black screen failure? I can't log in.
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
Look up TARGET DISK MODE.
Basically you connect the two computers via firewire or better yet, Thunderbolt.
On the "broken" computer hold down the letter T while starting up. This starts the broken computer in TARGET DISK MODE.
You will then be able to see the disk of the broken computer on the working one.
