Q: SMS Continuity - Text Message Forwarding Code Not Appearing on my MBA

I am trying to setup SMS Continuity on my MBA...

Though I get the request / window on my iPhone 5S to "Enter the code shown on your Mac to allow iPhone text messages to also be sent ad received on Computer Name" no code is being displayed on my MBA.

Would like to know i) whether anyone knows a workaround to this and ii) whether anyone else has this problem.

TIA.

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

on your iPhone go to messeges then sign out from imessage and sign in again, it will show your mobile number, after that try again activating message forwardin. that's worked for me

    1. Click the Notification center icon on the menu bar.  It should be next to the Spotlight icon.
    2. At the bottom of the Notification center, click Edit.
    3. Add the Social widget to the Notification center.
    4. To send an SMS/iMessage from the notification center, open notification center again and click on the Message icon.

Understood with thanks...read your original posting very early in the morning and though you were referring to the notification applet in settings, all good now...

This was driving me crazy until I changed one setting on my phone. Settings / Messages / IMessages / - Logout/Login out of the account. Make sure a phone AND an email is selected (previously I only had the phone checked, even though the email was there).

A little nervous unchecking email addresses on both devices.  Make sure you remember your passwords to log back into those emails. Worked instantly.  Thank You.

Thanks so much that worked - as simple as signing out of my iCloud account and back in. Awesome

a hard reset of my iphone did the trick, then i was able to choose text message forwarding in settings on my phone, and the code appeared on my mac

before that, i tried deactivating, and then activating icloud on my phone in settings-messages, didn't work (by itself), as well as deselecting/selecting all my e-mail addresses

Found the answer to this. TURN ON WIFI AND BLUETOOTH on both devices. OMG Apple, W-T-F, tell people this is necessary in order to see the code!
