Q: SMS Continuity - Text Message Forwarding Code Not Appearing on my MBA

I am trying to setup SMS Continuity on my MBA...

Though I get the request / window on my iPhone 5S to "Enter the code shown on your Mac to allow iPhone text messages to also be sent ad received on Computer Name" no code is being displayed on my MBA.

Would like to know i) whether anyone knows a workaround to this and ii) whether anyone else has this problem.

TIA.

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

    Hi,

It is very clear in this Doc Use Continuity to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac - Apple Support

I swear the 8.4 update for iPhone broke my message forwarding.  Partner and I actually both had the same problem.  Be sure to check your mac (not iPhone) message settings to verify that your phone number is listed.  If not, try this: sign out of iMessage on your mac (not your iPhone).  Sign back in.  Your phone number should appear.  Then try activating forwarding in your iPhone message settings menu.  Bingo, worked for me.

Thank you. Recently my iPhone 5 (still on iOS 8.x) became a little funky ever since I came back to the country (and of course dealing with changing SIM cards on this phone). My iMessage forwarding functionality doesn't work from time to time, this completely reset it. Awesome, thank you!

I tried everything mentioned in the rest of the replies and NOTHING was working. I was using an iPhone 5S running iOS 9.3.2 and my MacBook Pro was running the latest version of Yosemite before El Capitan. I was reluctant to download El Capitan because some 3rd party apps don't work on it yet, but I decided to make the trade. After downloading El Capitan I tried it again and it worked within seconds!

"I had to repeat this for each device I wanted to allow Text Message Forwarding for."of

    That fixed mine!!!

I unchecked all of my accounts on both my phone and my iMac, signed back in on the iMac, and then tried again and it worked!  Thank you so much!!!
