Q: iPhone 6 plus rear camera blurry/wobbly (not focusing)

iPhone 6 plus rear camera is not focusing, won't remain stable and is blurry no matter how still I get whether video or picture.  Automatic or manual focus not working either.   Front facing camera works fine.   Seems OIS isn't doing anything but making it worse.

Here is a photo(below) taken while completely still that never focuses automatically or manually and is vibrating vertically as if taken in motion.

Videos become wobbly and out of focus.  Link: https://vid.me/Nxh

Steps I have taken:

1. Closed all apps and forced reboot of phone.

2. Reset all settings.

3. Restored phone to latest 8.1 software and set up as new phone.

Results still the same even if I use 3rd party camera/video app.

I have the same story as you Wagga, except when they replaced my camera it didn't work for some reason so they gave me a new phone. Just wanted to get on and say that Apple is definitely aware of the problem, I was in and out of the Apple Store within an hour. I have a 128Gb 6 Plus.  They knew it was a problem with the new image stabilizer (I forget the name of it). OIS?  Anyway, I was told it wouldn't happen again after it being replaced, so we will see. I am a Marine and I take my phone around with me everywhere so I should know pretty quick.

HAha just had the same not focusing problem with the plus.

BOught my plus when it first came out at the apple store. When i tried to arrange for a fix online it wanted me to ship my fone in. No way. Cant live without a fone for that kinda duration. Instead i scheduled for geniius bar

went in and the staff were pleasant and knowledgebE. no wasting time. Basically had my fone for a exchange of camera and was done in an hour

    covered by warranty. Thanks apple.

ALtho i wonder if we should just get the other camera installed so this doesnt happen aGain? /shrugs

I had the same issue as many people here.  I have had my 6 Plus for about 3 months and the rear camera won't focusing. It was a hardware problem.

Mar. 7, I went to the Genius Bar, they quickly identified the issue, took my phone and replaced the camera (not the entire phone) for one hour.  It now works properly again.  I don't appreciate having to have it fixed for the only 3 month device, but as usual - Apple took care of the issue quickly and for free.(cost $59)

2 days later, my daughter's iPhone 5 got same problem, unfortunately it is out of warranty.(bought at July, 2013)

I have to schedule an appointment again and pay the fee.

I'm very disappointed for the iPhone's camera quality, it's getting worse!

Hi I have this problem on & off. Sometimes it can focus. Sometimes it can't. I don't know what's the issue. Could it be iOS upgrade? I just upgraded to the latest iOS, I didn't have this problem before. this was taken indoors in daytime and could not focus.

My Iphone 6 Plus has been experiencing the same issues and nothing people have been saying worked. I was very frustrated and jerk the phone up and down and all of a sudden the camera focused. Its a temporary fix but it worked for me. I hope it works for you too

    All,

I was compelled to create a username and add a comment. I have a 6+ and last weekend for an unknown reason my camera would not focus. I thought it was the 8.2 IOS upgrade. I searched all over the internet and learned more about the camera than I ever wanted to in hopes of a fix. I rebooted, cleaned the lense, you name it...I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and took a trip to the Apple store in Pleasanton this afternoon. Apple is aware of the problem and after an hour and a half, I walked out with a new camera at no charge. Apple's customer service is TOP NOTCH. Rather than rebooting and searching the internet for hours looking for a fix (like i have done), I high recommend you visit your nearest Apple store.

I bought an iPhone 6+ in October last year. After updating to iOS 8.2 Focus stopped working. I am really disappointed with Apple. The product quality was in decline in recent years. I find it hard to accept that Apple is manufacturing products with these failures. A pity ... Steve Jobs please come back!

I ordered my iPhone 6 Plus last October and had it in November. It's been flawless, except in the last week or so I noticed some of the pictures were blurry. Just the other day we put up a playset in our yard and someone asked me to send them a picture of it. It was bright and sunny out, and no matter where I stood in the yard--with the sun behind me, behind the playset, off to the side, etc. the pictures were blurry.

I started looking at some photos from earlier in the week, and sure enough, the more distant the object, the blurrier the picture. Really close-up pictures were clearer, but anything more than 5-10 feet away was blurry.

I tried the usual suspects...reboot, close all apps and reboot again, hard reboot (hold home/power buttons for 10 seconds), but nothing worked. I wasn't sure if it was the iOS 8.3 update that was the problem. One of my friends at church has a Plus and so I asked him if he had updated to iOS 8.3, which he had. So we took some pictures and they were crystal clear. That seems to rule out the iOS 8.3 update.

I have an appointment for tomorrow evening at the Apple Store Genius Bar. We'll see what they think.

Having the same problem.  Rear facing camera is not focusing.  After calling Apple and resetting the phone, I now have an appointment with the Apple Genius Bar tomorrow.  I will follow up with their solution.  Hopefully they can fix or replace on the spot.
