We are not Apple but, as that program is now about eight years old, I suspect Apple will tell you "no," unless you live in a country with exceptional consumer protection through warranty laws.

The Apple web page that detailed that exchange program is no longer on the web site, and Apple no longer sells PowerBook batteries. All that bodes poorly for your chances of getting a free battery,

If there is a recall that is issued for that model of PowerBook. And your machine is affected by this, You should be eligible for the recall program. If in doubt, take it to your local apple store and get further assistance from them.

    Good luck.

    Ninja,

Please look at my post above yours. That program expired years ago.

If you are referring to an Apple PowerBook G4, prior to 2006, a PowerPC processor

and a unit not capable of running an OS X newer than Leopard OS X 10.5.8, then

there may be a fair example from this reseller of Mac parts, of a replacement battery.

    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Apple/Laptop/Batteries

This site shows three for select models, if PowerBook G4.

You would have to match the correct part to your PBG4.

None of these may be a proper fit, so check the specs

and original part numbers, then read carefully -- to see.

[There are no warranties in effect for obsolete/vintage Macs or batteries from Apple.]

In 2005, there was a limited duration swap where a call to a toll-free number and

to register or contact Applecare, started a process where they may have sent a

replacement battery in an exchange program; only for specific battery numbers.

That expired. A similar program for iBook G4 existed for a limited time as well.

Since your post refers to a PowerBook, and in the same line, OS X 10.7.5, that is a

contradiction. As no PowerBook could run 10.7.5 (Lion) since that requires a Mac

with an Intel-based architecture; not the vintage PowerPC architecture in discussion.

There may be sources of replacement batteries across a range of quality, be aware

some clones of an original battery -- are not near the build quality or battery life.

    In any event...

    Good luck & happy computing!
