I have a macbook air OS X 10.9.5. When I tried to scan a document the destination folder was Pictures but it was greyed out. I then had to send the scan to iPhotos in order to send it on by email.
There isn't a Pictures folder when I look in Finder. Should there be?
Its a pain to send the scan by iPhotos because it inserted it into the document and only gave me a small text box to write all of the text of the email.

Maybe you've accidentally removed the folder from the sidebar.
If you press "Command + ," you'll get into the preferences of Finder.
Click the tab "Sidebar" and select "Pictures".

When being in an Finder window: press Command + ,
(Command and comma).

Or just click on the Desktop followed by command + ,
Got it now, thanks a lot guys. Another thing though...my scans now show up in the pictures folder but I can't to delete them. I highlight them but the delete button does nothing. Any ideas?
Where is the pictures folder in finder?
