Color bars in itunes 12
How can I get rid of the color bar? I can't read the type.

iTunes > Preferences > General and tick the box Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With it unticked you force black text. With it unticked iTunes ought not to fill that panel with artwork, but it does, so darker images swallow up the text. 😮

Had exact same problem, driving me crazy and then I found solution:
iTunes Preferences: General and make sure that the "Use custom colors for open albums, movies, etc." checkbox is checked.
Give it a few and that will fix it.
