Hi SG

I have been following requests / readin questions in google from a few years back already from so many people wanting this function thats easily done in excel, and the same thing always comes up "Apple script"

and any normal level 1 person dont know how where or what this is or how to even start this function/script. Im not a programmer, i just want to equal one cell in other work book, I would really have thought with all the requests

going around or if not requests all the same related questions raised that Aplle would have thought that this must be looked at. This is the only reason im only using Numbers for a simple financial budget breakdown on one work sheet and nothing else, always have the Excel close by. I would LOVE to move away from Excel and just work on Numbers. Why if cells from one work sheet to another can be linked but not to a different work book ? Dont need an explenation i just need it to work and plenty other users want this, excel is as easy as the press of of a equal button. Please put this request forward if you can, i see the same replies from you and its not helping anyone.

Frustrated that im half way in halfway out of Numbers !!

Thanks, in not fighting or being rude, im just about to give up on looking forward to the day this update actually happens. Hope i can can likes to people that agree to this and maybe with enopugh likes we can get this DONE.

Hi

Just to get back to the related issue, i have a 3 workbooks, inside the workbook i have 5 sheets, in the first sheet i have a cell with a finanical number, this number is link to other cells in all the other sheets, works perfectly. Now, having 3 work books with the same layout, i want to now open a new workbook and then link the numbers in each cell of the 3 work books to the new workbook, cant be done ! Solutions from apple = Applescript

We as users need an update to make this easier as 1-2-3, should be be able to link a cell from one workbook to another as easy as linking a cell between worksheets as currently possible.

The quicker this is looked at the more people will convert im sure. Its the right time to do this, certain things keeps us as a user to the brand but lacking certain things makes you think about it. Apple should take this step out, I dont want to think for a moment saying maybe i should stick with excel rather cause.... Apple now only have a 50% change of keeoing me on the cumputer side. We own ipads and Mac's with Numbers, we have the hardware if you want us to upgrade to new hardware again then the software needs to work, Numbers needs to link workbooks !

If need be can i get a step by step guide then how with apple script do i get a number in cells from work books to read to a new work book. Remember i dont know where and how apple script starts. How can i get this going if an update is not going to happen ?

Hi JFBEK,

We're fellow users on this forum. If you have feedback for Apple, try Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback in your menu.

There are many things that Excel can do but Numbers can't. There are other things that are easier in Numbers. Perhaps use the tool that is best suited to the task at hand.

In a cross-platform and multiuser world, linking between documents (workbooks) has its limits, which may be one reason the designers haven't implemented it in Numbers, and why many experienced users would tell you to avoid it when possible in Excel.
