text messages just work, just not calling.
when i switch my iphone to the 2,4ghz network it works fine...
is this a known bug?

Nov 4, 2015 1:42 PM in response to icon804by jeroen.,I dont think this has anything to do with the cellular service, and we don't have wifi calling here.
I have an airport with dual wifi setup, so a 2.4 and 5ghz wifi network.
with my previous iPhone 4S i never had a problem because that only supports 2,4ghz.
but my 6s plus can connect to both networks.
I first thought it might be that my mac still tried to connect to my old phone (which was logged out of icloud and co oletely reset even).
but messaging worked with my new phone, just not calling.
So maybe other people that have that issue can try to switch the wifi band they are on to see if that works?

Dec 21, 2015 8:38 AM in response to keltongby Tom334,Thanks for the fix. I was having the issue; no error message or any message at all. When I clicked a phone number and said use the iPhone to call, nothing at all happened. I turned FaceTime off and it began working again

Dec 21, 2015 8:43 PM in response to Tom334by DeShawn44,I had this issue and under Settings>Phone there's a setting for "Calls on Other Devices". This was not toggled on. Toggled it on and viola! I have an iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 9.2 and a MBP OS X 10.11.1

Jan 7, 2016 10:54 AM in response to tivoboyby Flycast,I was having problems similar to those described in other posts and found a slightly different solution. When trying to make a call from Contacts I was simply clicking on the phone icon to the right of the phone number and nothing happened. I found that when I right (or Control) click the phone number itself a menu appears offering, among other things. "Call (xxx) xxx-xxxx Using iPhone". I scrolled down to the option, clicked and the call was initiated.

Problem solved for me.
After upgrading to 10.10.3 and logging in, I was prompted for my iCloud password. Of late, I'd enter it, and then get asked about seven more times to enter it. Today though when I entered it the first time, I was them prompted to created an app-specific password for iMessages and FaceTime.
I know this is old but there is no “app specific password” for FaceTime or Messages. It is you AppleID password.

Jan 20, 2016 8:53 AM in response to jmj900sby cammyguy,I was trying to troubleshoot this same issue. For some reason, the number I was trying to dial had a +1 in front of the number from my phone book. As soon as I removed the + sign, it allowed the call to go through.

Feb 15, 2016 2:54 PM in response to jmj900sby nigel_brown,Tried all of the solutions here.
If you have an Airport Extreme or Base Station, go to Airport Utility / Base Station / Restart. This fixed it for me so it was probably an IP address issue.
Good Luck!
