Okidata printer timeout prints extra page after each job

After updating to Yosemite, I get the following problem. When printing to my Okidata C331dn, everything seems fine, but about 25-30 seconds later, I get an extra page printed with the following:

ERROR: timeout

OFFENDING COMMAND: timeout

STACK:

This happens every time I print. I am using the Mavericks drivers via USB (Oki has not updated their drivers, yet).

Any ideas on how to stop this? I am wasting a lot of paper!

Upon advice from Okidata support, I set up this as a Generic PCL Printer, and this seems to have solved the problem.

Darn! The Generic PCL Printer driver seems to print ONLY in Black & White, so my problem is not solved. Any ideas out there?

Hi,

I have had the same problem with an Oki MC560 color NETWORK printer, after upgrading my Macbook to Yosemite.

Now it seem solved after changing the printer network setting "IEEE802.1X" from "NO" to "YES"

(I don't know why !).

Now, after each printing, the printer remain "active" for some minutes, with "Data" led blinking as it should print something else,

and then it goes in standby (without printing the extra page with timeout error).

Thanks for the suggestion. My printer is currently connected via USB, but I will reconfigure it and try your suggestion. If it works, I will report back.

Okidata has finally updated its drivers for OS 10.10 Yosemite, and the problem now seems to be fixed. My printer is connected via USB, and the extra page no longer prints. Thanks Okidata! Better late than never...

Go to http://my.okidata.com/pp-C331dn.nsf?opendatabase. Choose "Mac OS X.10" from the "Find a Driver" list.

Oki has not fixed the problem, I have deleted the printer 15 times and have used their "new" drivers to reinstall and it still doesn't work - get the error timeout page EVERY TIME. Any other suggestions, OKI support is nonexistent.

I had the same problem and the new driver didn't work. When I changed the USB PS protocol to ASCII instead of RAW under the sys config menu, it solved the problem for me.

This is such an irritating and unsolved problem. It happens on my wife's machine but not on mine - both printing via Airport Express connected USB to printer. My MacBookPro never has the issue but both my wife's recent IMac 27" and her previous old iMac did this. I've updated the driver but it still does it. UPDATE! When I upgraded to the new driver I did not realise that you have to delete the printer in settings and re-set it up. At first it was still showing old driver version. Now it is the new one and it HAS SOLVED the problem! Whoopee!

I have been using El Capitan for some time, but this just started happening. I believe one of the Apple updates caused this problem. The other suggestions of changing network printer settings or updating drivers had no effect. With help from Okidata customer support (whom I found very helpful), I chose a different driver. That is, go to preferences/printer and delete your printer. When adding it back, do not choose auto-select for "use," i.e. highlight the printer, "use" window now available, choose to select the driver, then choose a driver similar to yours. In my case with a C6150, I selected C610. Solved it immediately.
