Q: iphoto 9.6 won't let me choose new photo library on external hard drive
Been fighting with a huge iPhoto library (194GB) after the upgrade to Yosemite. By reading other threads, I used the iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild my library, but I don't have enough space on my hard drive to make it through all the photos/movies. So I copied the entire library onto an external drive with a terabyte of space. Trying to get iPhoto to point to the new library by holding the 'option' key while opening iPhoto. It gives me the dialog to switch libraries, but when I pick "Other Library", I can see the new library on the external drive, but it won't let me pick it. It is light gray. Are there permissions or locks I need to change to make it available? Thanks
iMac, Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Somehow you've managed to tell your computer that the iphoto Library is a Terminal login.
Try select the Library in the Finder and go File -> Get Info. In the Info window use the 'Open With' segment to select iPhoto.
Will it open now?
