Jan 20, 2015 4:53 AM in response to Lexiepexby m1k3ram,Maybe Chrome is a gaping hole but at least it isn't an infuriating wreck of a browser. I visit wikipedia, gmail, youtube, Atlantic monthly, wired, cnn, new york times, and a bbc cooking blog... If these websites are spectacularly unsafe then I should just stop using the web altogether.
Neither of those solutions you listed work for me. The only command that works (and I have to do it over and over again) is Cmd option E. .. Whatever, it's not a huge effort. But it's still a problem that has persisted for me since Mavericks, and for over a year now.
The only reason I take time out of my day to write this here is to add to the chorus in the hope that Apple will finally fix this problem.

Jan 20, 2015 5:18 AM in response to m1k3ramby Lexiepex,If you want Apple to do more, you should use the feedback to them. This here is not Apple.
As you are well aware of the sites that you visit, Chrome is not such a risk for you, and your mac certainly has power enough that the resources spill of Chrome can easily be handled.
You should not be so "aggrevated" about a good advice over a browser choice. I did not say anything like you must, only said some generalities about 4 browsers. Your choice to make.

Jan 25, 2015 11:22 PM in response to Lexiepexby cheriefromgeraldton,Have you guys had the latest Safari 8.0.2 update January 26 2015?
So far so good. I've not lost a connection since updating today. Cautiously optimistic here.

Jan 29, 2015 1:53 PM in response to Lexiepexby cheriefromgeraldton,Update on my Yosemite bug. As with everyone else I updated to Yosemite 10.2.2 and Safari 8.0.3. early this week. For a whole day it was brilliant then of yesterday it began dropping out again and by yesterday evening no Safari, no Opera. This morning Safari is back. Is everything remaining stable on Safari for you guys?

Jan 29, 2015 1:56 PM in response to cheriefromgeraldtonby cheriefromgeraldton,I meant to tell you I was looking at the console last night when Safari connectivity had gone completely and I notice great swaths of error messages like
"BUG in process suhelperd[299]: over-released legacy external boost assertions"
"Invalid surface 748817349 for window 127"
Same for you?

Feb 2, 2015 7:01 PM in response to MCW55by Jeff Y.,It seems like DNS doesn't work for IPv6 after changing network interfaces. It's just a guess, but it doesn't seem to be a problem after restarting before changing network interfaces, or if I disable IPv6.

Feb 3, 2015 2:41 PM in response to cheriefromgeraldtonby Johnerz,I have had this problem since upgrading to Yosemite. If I don't use Safari, Chrome and Firefox work without any problems.
Looks like the only solution for me is to ditch Safari if there isn't a fix soon. Problem is its my favourite browser! : (

Feb 3, 2015 3:30 PM in response to Johnerzby cheriefromgeraldton,Since the latest instalments of Safari and Yosemite there has been a vast improvement BUT if I clear ALL history and website data I get problems again with Safari pages not opening. I have Opera installed and it follows Safari at that time and won't open pages. I can clear the last hour, I can clear todays history.... and even today and yesterday but "all history and website data" and I loose connectivity.
Then I have to leave the computer for about an hour and connectivity hesitently returns.
I'm absolutely no computer expert and this might bear no relation at all to the problems of others.... but I hope it helps someone though.

Feb 3, 2015 7:10 PM in response to MCW55by Virginianyc,The latest update came through and now I have all those Safari problems. I tried most of the suggestions and nothing has worked so far. Very annoyed with Apple; this is their program. Please fix, Apple!

Feb 5, 2015 12:00 AM in response to smartsonby texas_compadre,The ipv6 solution posted by Ron2you fixed the problem for me (caveat: "for the moment"). For a user not well versed in the technicalities of DNS and ipv4/ipv6, this is a confounding problem. It is a problem that is obviously affecting many users, one with a simple solution that Apple Support should have knowledge of, and one that they should be ready and willing to provide. For me it was a matter of scouring the net for many weeks until I finally happened to key in the right search string to stumble upon this thread. In the meantime, I've been contemplating my switch back to Windows PCs. Come Windows 10, I suspect I'm out of here. Ridiculous.

Feb 6, 2015 3:40 PM in response to Virginianycby cybercussion,I'm glad others are commenting on this. I have been dealing with beach balls in the address bar, and especially on certain sites where you have to type text it gets stuck for 5 - 16 seconds. I added google DNS to my modem/router and it seems to be a bit better but still randomly gets slow.
I was also having issues with iMessage randomly dropping connected jabber accounts. Went thru the whole "make sure your timezone is set to auto" remarks. It was a fresh build on a 2013 Mac Pro 6-core.I started to wonder if iCloud Sync (favs, usernames/passwords) among other items were to blame here too. It (for me) is the only common link between putting a fresh build of Yosemite on the system, then putting my iCloud user/pass in. But its random regardless. Only other commonality in my Safari installations is Adblock.

Feb 6, 2015 4:37 PM in response to cheriefromgeraldtonby Virginianyc,I can not use any browser in my main user. An alternate user account works ok, for now. I have tried the solutions listed and nothing seems to work in my main browser. The alternate user account had the same settings.

Feb 7, 2015 3:27 PM in response to MCW55by Johnerz,I have waited for a solution for ages. The last update did nothing for me. Some of the advice on here is way above my level of knowledge IPv6, DNS etc. I'm no programmer just a user and lover of Apple products (normally).
Tried finding info on the Apple website, tried getting through to UK support. Nothing was easy, so the best solution is to switch browser until this is sorted. Well, as of today I figured the fix for myself and its simple. I have stopped using Safari and now use Mozilla Firefox, it has similar features to Safari and works without any problem as long as I don't open Safari. I tried Google Chrome but for some reason it doesn't support Silverlight anymore and to be honest I don't really like the interface very much.
Safari was my preferred browser but until Apple workout a solution to this problem, its simply a product on my Mac that doesn't work properly. I didn't pay over £1,000 for a computer to use a browser that doesn't work properly and causes me to restart my Mac when it freezes.
