How do I delete album artwork in the latest itunes upgrade

Select the track, Get Info » Artwork Tab » Select the cover (it will show a blue border) and click delete.

Go to Preferences » Store Tab » check and uncheck “Automatically download album artwork”.

I am having this same issue on my version of iTunes (Version 12.0.1.26) for the PC.

When I go to the album artwork for a particular song, I can no longer select the covers for the song listed - unlike in previous versions of iTunes. There is no blue-highlight that occurs, as you cannot select anything. When I add new artwork, the old artwork goes into the "gallery" portion under the artwork screen... and I still cannot delete it.

This has nothing to do with automatically downloaded artwork.

On the artwork tab, click on the artwork and press Backspace

Of all the answers I read in this forum, this is the one that worked for me. iTunes 12 has me up nights!

I love having the artwork but when I am downloading or syncing, it takes a long time!

Thanks for that. (What the heck was wrong with just using the Delete key, as in the old version?) New version of iTunes stinks. I'm sorry I upgraded. Case of developers with too much time on their hands...

I can delete the artwork but it shows back up a few seconds later. iTunes 12 on Mac, I have "automatically download album artwork" unchecked. I am guessing this has something to do with iTunes match which is a service I am paying for. It makes me so mad when you spend hours getting rid of garbage album covers only to have a computer undo all your work in one fail swoop!

Totally have this issue. I have a greatest hits CD, but I wanted to break it down into the original album from where each song came from. Changed the title of the album. Went and got the artwork for the album. Deleted the greatest hits art, chose the new art, hit okay, and it reverts back to the greatest hits CD art. What is going on?
