Cannot drag and drop PDF pages in Yosemite Preview App

I suddenly cannot drag and drop PDF pages into the open preview PDF Yosemite> Why?

I open a PDF in preview.

I used to be able to simply drag a PDF from the desktop (or a JPG) into that open PDF in Preview.

Now it won;t let me?

Is this a bug or is there a new procedure for this?

Thanks!

I, too, have not been able to consistently use Preview drag/drop since updating to Yosemite. I'm on a mid 2012 MBPr. I have no anti virus software, etc. on my machine and I feel as though I keep it very clean - apps from the App Store only. Anyway, I use Preview daily...literally dozens of times as I need to markup, combine, work with PDF files constantly with my work.

It's very clear Apple made changes to Preview for the Yosemite upgrade. Unfortunately I don't see anything that's to our advantage. When you click on Text, or Arrow or rectangle rather than selecting what you want to do, and then click/drag WHERE you want to draw or type...we now get a Text Box or Arrow in the middle of the page and then have to move, resize, etc. Very very time consuming.

However, I can handle that, but not being able to combine pages honestly I cannot move forward. It will 'occasionally' drag/drop a page or two at a time but it seems whenever I have to drag/drop more than 2-3 times per day, it locks up. Restarting, Verifying/Repairing disk (no repairs needed on mine when I just ran it), etc. doesn't help. Going to another user also doesn't help (as I only have one user and guest, and guest has no privledges).

Anyway, could really use a fix regarding the drag/dropping as I've used Preview daily for years. It's an awesome software product but now honestly, it's useless. Thanks!!!

Tried your suggestion, Old Toad, and deleted the files. Didn't work. Every time I drag a PDF document thumbnail page in Preview into an open email message in Apple Mail, it pastes in as an icon with the name "Pasted graphic-1.(null)". This worked fine last time I did it a week or so ago. It pasted in a copy of the PDF page into the email message.

I'm running Yosemite 10.10.1, Apple Mail 8.1, and Preview 8.0 on an iMac.

I accomplish the end goal of consolidating two or more pdfs using Preview by opening the docs and then using the thumbnails to consolidate them into one document and then order them using the thumbnail view. Once that is done I use the "File-Print-pdf" facility to create a new pdf with the docs combined. This approach also has the added advantage of being non0-destructive to the original docs.

(when i say "docs" in this note I mean pdfs vs MS Docs")

I have Yosemite 10.10.3 and this simple task still doesn't work.

The only solution I have found is to open the individual files (jpg, pdf...) in one window of Profile and hit Print... PDF/Save as PDF. The pages will have to be re-ordered as this seems to be pretty random, but it works and is readable with Acrobat Reader.

This seems to work every time for at least pdf's and jpg's. Why do these things change with every update?
