How to type 1/2 symbol?

I'm using Yosemite and can't find the 1/2 symbol. I've checked in the character viewer and keyboard prefs.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10), Late 2011, 2.4GHz, 16gb, 1tb SSD

Jimtron,

As Barney-15E says you can find it in the Character Viewer.

Edit (Menu) -> Special Characters...

Once the Character Viewer is open you can also add the category ( Digits - All ) and find them in there.

To add the ( Digits - All ) Category click the little Gear symbol below the ( x ) top left corner -> Customize List -> Check ( Digits - All ) -> Scroll down about ¼ the way and you'll find them.

½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅕ ⅖ ⅗ ⅘ ⅙ ⅚ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞

Also if you would like to you can add keyboard shortcuts that will automatically change those fractions for you.

System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text (Tab) -> Little ( + ) symbol on the bottom left -> It will create an entry -> Type ( 1/2 ) on the left in the ( Replace ) Column -> Type ( ½ ) on the right in the ( With ) column. Repeat with all the Fractions you would like then whenever you type 1/2 it will correct to ½ when you hit the space bar.

Hope that helps,

Weston
